I’m not sure your correct there Mattee, to me the defining feature of a Porsche driver is their diminutive size

They really are tiny titchy people, always amuses me when I see them get out – they occasionally need a tiny step ladder if they park next to an unusually high kerb

But I still like them too

(off course I am not suggesting all Porsche drivers are vertically challenged – that would be ridiculous – just most)

Vauxhalls have never appealed to me ( possible exception of vx220) nor have Rovers- patricularly dislike those horrible, chavvy MG badged heaps from the early 2000's!

skoda, lada, fiat, proton, seat, kia, lancia........oh, and although i really like some specific model BMW's, the complete bellends that tend to own them put me off.

MG ZR.

A performance 'hot hatch' with zero performance and a fart can from the factory.

You talk some amount of drivel Matteeboy, Have you actually ever driven any form of Alfa or are you just interested in BHP/Torque bragging figures? I dare you to take an old Alfa out for a spin and tell me you haven't have a good laugh!

I must say that for once (!) I agree with Mattee. I've never understood this sporty image given to Alfa. It may come from Clarkson who always says that any real car enthusiast will have owned an alfa in their lifetime

To me they do sometimes look pretty, but are the benchmark for nothing. They are never the fastest in a straight line, around a track, the most comfortable, the best equipped, the most reliable etc. A complete non entity of a car driven by slightly odd characters who feel that the Alfa badge is in some way desirable

Porsche, the only one I'd have would be the 959.

Audi, they make euroboxes for poseurs.

And Subaru. I have not a jot of interest for them, not even a little bit. As a matter of fact, what am i doing here?

Wondering if most of us are getting this thread! Which Marque has never appealed to you

Problem is times change.Used to love Peugot stuff,205 GTI.Used to gag for a 306 D Turbo. Can't think of anything kind to say nowadays!

Same for Vauxhall...Nova SR's SRI's,Astra GTEs Opel Mantas. It was all great once. What happened!!! Cars have improved but aren't appealing!!!

Confused myself now! (and you can't have a pulse if you don't think a Jag XK isn't sexy!)

Its probably because we're getting older. The majority of us who frequent "Other Marques" seem to be the wrong side of 30. It'd be interesting to know what the equivalent of the above cars actually are to the slightly younger generation these days, as I have no idea

In it's day the Alfasud had one of the finest chassis' on any production car available. Matched to that fabulous free spinning boxer engine it was a great drive. OK it could have been made from better metal but really glorious cars to drive.

They have never quite recaptured that magic other than the rather special 'Il Monstro' SZ which still goes for a lot money today!

When I talk about Alfas being poor, I mean any Alfa after the GTV.

They used to be a bit different, a bit quirky. Now they are just mediocre cars dressed in a tarts miniskirt and boob tube. And yes, I've driven a fair few.

Barring marques like FSO, ZIL and the likes, just sticking to the American/West European and Far East brands my vote would be Rover.
Even very bland marques like Hyundai or Kia have made somewhat appealing cars, but Rover never made anything that did anything for me (If we discount the 6R4, which was not Rover branded, but on which Rover did some work)
