My cats paw swelled up and looked like a frying pan, last week. Swift visit to the Vets. Antibiotic injection and course of anti inflammatries. £80 lighter and an appointment for today to check up.
I was in there 1 minute at most. £11.50
Not worth claiming on the insurance, but they want me to go back in two weeks for another check up even though his paw is now fine.
I always thought follow up checks were free

Some pet insurance is heavily loaded with excess to keep the monthly price down, so claiming becomes a last resort.

Please don't talk to me about vets bills, we've got a puppy that's just had his knackers off, we also found a lump on his shoulder blade so that's had an x-ray and a bi-opsy, the older two dogs have both got kennel cough (so the puppy is pretty much guaranteed to get it), and all three are due they're annual booster jabs, one of the horse's has got suspected lamanitis, so is on three weeks box rest and having x-rays, scans and blood tests done and the other horse has just had its annual jabs, and none of them are insured, ooh i just can't wait to get the vets bill, maybe when it turns up i'll post it up here, that will make the rest of you feel a bit better.

Isnt it cheaper in France? If you're close its sometime worth hoping over the channel.
When I lived in Spain we had a hamster that was ill, took it in every 2 days for 2 weeks. Only took 1 minute to receive an injection. Bill came to £0 ! They said it wasnt worth it.
My inlaws dog out there broke a leg, fixed for £100.

My local vet often charges nothing, or certainly very little.
In the redneck, hillbilly sister-fcking town I live in, his day to day work is putting his arm up cows ***** all day. The poor chap seems a little out of his field here, he admits to being more of a City vet, dealing with small animals so I have no idea what he is doing here....anyway, most of the banjo playing locals view animals with a certain contempt and dont keep pets unless they serve a pupose - ie dogs for hunting, cats are tolerated for vermin control, but left to their own devices etc etc.
The vet generally seems really chuffed to see a well looked after pet cat, so rarely charges me full prices.
