1825kg is plain wrong for starters, as is 302bhp in most cases. Now consider torque at the wheels (4wd vs 2wd) and the fact that the P1 is about as aerodynamic as a brick and the evidence starts to mount up. TBH, I'd fancy a 335d to keep up with a bone stock P1 and the petrol is slightly faster.
Just read your link, the unladen weight figure quoted is 1810kg for the 335i manual and include the tank being 90% full, 7kg of luggage and a 68kg driver. 90% of it's tank is around 57l so that is probably another 50kg or so there. In short, the true unladen weight of the BMW (which you quoted for the P1) is in the region of 1685kg - it's dry weight will be even less. We are now in the area of 179hp/t and, if the car does have circa 320bhp it's 189hp/t.

Even 189hp/t seems unrealistically low btw. My S2000 had 192hp/t and there is zero chance it would have kept up with a 335i on the roll. The higher outright bhp of the BMW would have seen it through IMHO.

Depends on what Spec the P1 is, I fitted electric Recaro's, they were alot heavier than the standard items, add to that the optional 18's and brakes upgrade, it soon adds up.

There's little point in debating P1 v 335i stock for stock any further. They are going to be too close to draw any firm conclusions from a paper exercise. Perhaps we should defer to OP's experience on this one.
What are you driving these days Paul....I remember you had a P1 and an S2000 at one point, then I think you had a Spec C but after that I lost track.

BMW won, STI Launched ahead, later BMW 335i kicks in catch up and won the race. Bmw 335i twin turbo vs Subaru's turbo tuned
and the bmw still won

335i vs m3 e46

Stock vs stock these two cars are very similar. The M3 definitely takes it on the track. However, the 335i is underrated and actually makes closer to 330HP and 330 lb ft...search a dyno on the car. It has more torque across a wider band than the E46 M3 and that is the main reason it is slightly faster in a straight line. Also, if that 335i was tuned, it would have crushed that stock M3. V2 335i goes 0-60 in 4.2 secs and a 1/4 mile in 12 flat...MUCH faster than a stock E46 M3.

Using YouTube as a bible can find you anything mate. The fact its that it won't do 0-60 in 4.2 sec..not even the e92 m3 can archive that.. sorry mate thats a bull without me even looking st the 'official' figures.

The STI in that vid was tuned apparantly. There is no indication as to how much. Even with PPP it would have 300bhp putting its performance on a par with a P1 (more weight but 25bhp more). If we assume that to be the case - and lets be honest, 300bhp is the minimum a tunned STI is likely to have - then the 335i was fractionally faster. Now assume the P1 driver was a big slow on the gear changes and perhaps the 335i could open up a few car lengths.
