If you want more for your money,you can move to somewhere like market Weighton, a work colleague sold a 3 bed semi and got a 6 (yes 6) bed house for #20k more.The bedrooms are tiny mind.
I've lived in Haxby, 3 miles out of the City Centre for nearly 14 years. Good choice of schools and local amenities. My kids are 7,9,10 and there's plenty of out of school activities for them after school and at the weekends.
