Lovely motor especially the alloys. I have a 335i and was overtaken by a 320 with them alloys on yesterday and i am trying to resist the temptation.

Is Estoril Blue a standard colour for the E46 or did you get that resprayed? I read that you were doing the E92 the same colour but couldn't remember if you said you had it sprayed.

If not did that affect the selling price?

BMW made both the E36 and E46 in Estoril blue , my E46 is factory painted , they do not make the E92 in Estoril , and can't be supplied in there Individual programme , Individual is where you can choose from loads of different paints and interior finishes , but Estoril isn't one of them , I don't know why as I think they would sell loads of them , there is a new model called the Edition out now that is Monte Carlo blue , but its darker than Estoril

If it looks like that photo and they arent readily available and I wanted that colour and had that sort of money I would probably be prepared to pay a bit more for that colour.

Hats off for doing yours though, to know that yours is a one off Id feel smug about that...well Id feel smug what ever colour it was (apart from nappy delight).

Black, silver or blue, they all look fantastic. Thought about getting the CSL alloys they look so good...not that the standard ones dont, but they have the edge for me.

If its a BMW colour I don't see how it will reduce the resale value, would have thought it be more sought after if anything with it being rare on the E92

Superb colour and respect for doing that

Obviously it'll put some buyers off but as long as you document the change, keep picture evidence that it wasn't smashed up etc then I'm sure if anything you'll probably have a select few very keen on a unique M3 in a colour BMW should have given.

While it's in the body shop can't you get those max power 'devil horns' sanded off the rear bumper I love the new M3 but don't get those weird looking bits on the back bumper look like a cheap bodykit.

Been up to the body shop today to have a look , its coming along well now , they found a couple of area's that have had some repairs already , they were hoping to have everything primed today , the wheels were painted yesterday and they had the tyres refitted today , they have done a great job on the wheels , looking forward to seeing the finished paint on the car now

An old repair that was made invisible , well almost !

I wish they have covered the seats ! I hope there valeter does a very good job

Hopefully it will be ready to collect this weekend

You have ***** of steel allowing that much disturbance to such an expensive car that was already in perfect condition! I really hope this pays off for you.

Did someone mention an E36 ? I've had one of them as well about 10 years ago lol

Yes you guessed it , Estoril blue

The most fun M3 I had was my E30

Me competing on the West Cork rally in Southern Ireland a few years ago

Latest update , the car isn't going to be ready to collect this weekend , most of the stuff will be done but the new front windscreen on order from BMW hasn't been delivered to RAC windscreens and won't be now until tuesday , it had a copy windscreen fitted , and I want an original back in it.

Anyway , the car is starting to take shape , the photos of it freshly painted look good , just looks a backwards step with the wet sanding lol.

Now starting to look good

The wet sanding has started

The edition black exhaust tail pipes being fitted , there are just 4 rivets holding them on so an easy swap

The wings had been fitted when I left which made it a whole lot better

I really , really can't wait to get it back

Cheers Ian
