It might be quicker for you to have a look and re-post your findings, Its only 5 or 6 screws to undo.

Does it matter which way the filter goes in? The filter looked the same from both sides and i'm pretty sure I put mine in with the arrow pointing downwards. Will this cause any harm?

Yes it does matter which way it goes round! but you have got it right with the arrow pointing down towards the fan heater

After seeing this pst I bought myself a new panel filter not expecting it to be too dirty as the blowers seemed pretty strong only to find this when I removed it.

Was shocked to say the least.

I've just had a butchers at mine, it was in a right state! I've hoovered it for now but I will get a new one ordered and switch it at the weekend.

I took the opportunity to spray some of this all over the filter while it was out. Smells great in my car now.

Can't you just "delete" the filter? If for example, the occupants don't really care about pollen?

Although from looking at those pics I'm guessing a lot of crap would work its way into the system possibly...

Also anyone know where the fan draws its air from? Is it the engine bay?

The arrows denote the air direction.

Changed the pollen filter in MY07 RB320.
Ordered a 'Blueprint' filter from 'Import Car Parts' £11 & it took exactly 24 hours 34 minutes from when I ordered to it being delivered

New & old

Debris

I fitted a new pollen filter a few weeks ago, when I opened the access cover I found no filter in there, I've heard of weight saving on Spec C's but that's taking the proverbial.
