Pollen filter,
Ive read that the pollen filter is an extra and service time, so i thought ill take mine out and have a look.
here is what i found - https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...1/IMG_0200.jpg So i got myself a new one only £10. The difference is amazing, the blowers are so strong, the air smells cleaner etc etc. https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...1/IMG_0198.jpg Def a worth while Job, This is a guide i used below http://www.iwsti.com/forums/how-inst...ilter-how.html |
mine looked a bit like yours.50k's worth of gubbins in mine
|
Yikes, dash is about to come out of mine so I'll do it then:eek:
|
I should probably do mine :freak3:
Anyone know a good place to get a new filter? Edit: Found them on camskill for £8, but postage is £8 too  |
Pretty similar to mine, it'd actually started to fall to bits as well. Mine was really heavy it was so dirt filled! As you say, the difference between the blowers before and after is unreal.
|
£11 on ebay delivered, nothing listed in halfrauds:(
|
I got mine from euro car parts I think it was £10.98 or something with free next day delivery,
I changed it after I was told this Pollen filters must be replaced at least ever 2 years. If they are not then the restriction of air flow over the air conditioning evaporator ( a/c radiator in side the heater box) is reduced and as a result the evaporator is not cooled sufficiently and this can cause it to ice up, block the internal veins and split open. I have seen this several times and is a quite common fault on some cars. |
My aircon is coming out anyway, but I have noticed that even the standard heating is not flowing as much cool air so I am hoping this will resolve the issue:D
|
Better check my soon!
|
Cheers for the reminder :thumb:

Definately worth doing :) |
just did mine today £10.98 off ebay dont think mine had been done in years
|
can this be done on my98 sport wagon?
|
Do all Imprezas have these?
|
Just done mine  obviously never done from new! car is now 4.5 years old and it was dirtier than the originally pic posted.
I have ordered one form EBay but thought I mention that I hoovered and washed the old one and it came up really well so if you didn't want to spend the £11.00 then you probably wouldn't have to. |
OK I've just had a look at mine and it has 2 small filters :wonder:
Here are some pic's of what I found, excuse the quality of the pic's they were taken with my phone. I removed the glove box to gain access to the blower unit. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...0082010247.jpg then when I removed the cover I found this. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...0082010243.jpg which is wired to this switch, and I have no idea what it is for I knew it was there but I just chose to ignore it :lol1: I knew it had something to do with the heating/ventilation system. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...0082010245.jpg Here are the filters. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y23...0082010244.jpg I'm assuming this must be a JDM thing  |
yep, my UK bug certainly didn't have anything wired in there! i just opened the flap and swapped the filters straight over :)
A bit of googling has turned up that the A/P switch stands for Air Purifier, so there's some wizardy going on somewhere there :D |
