Dont you believe it.

I ran an e60 m5 for 2 years and have only just swapped it. I now run a STi and the difference in driving is chalk and cheese.

BUT there is something about the V10 running upto 8.5k revs using full throttle gear changes that makes you smile.

And dont be fooled about the pace of it, it will out drag most cars in a straightline, it accelerates from 100 - 160 as fast as most cars do 0 - 100.

At a vmax day I had 196 mph through the traps, totally standard apart from max speed limiter removed.

A type20 / type25 speaks for itself and that's what most bought it for, I know I did!! But as you say at 30k it's a lot of money for a 5 year old impreza but it has had a lot done to it, last STD type 25 (if you can call them that lol) was up at 26/7k if I remember right, buy the time you have bought a spec c for 16/17k you got 10 left to play with but fit a set of AST's (full set up) buy a turbo and supporting mods the. Get them fitted your 10k will very quickly get chewed, then the cost of mapping I doubt there will be much left but with the type25 you get the cosworth block and the badge!!
As for the response and mapping etc I have to believe you give any jdm impreza to the likes of bob rawle, simon jgm and I am sure they will get you the same figures not knocking what Iain can do with mapping but a lot of people use the responsiveness as a big reason.
Ste is right. Then when you are bored you have a modded spec c not a cosworth hawkeye the re sale value is alot difference in the two cars.

You wont regret your purchase in any way. Also the support of ian will be worth the money spent.

Do you mean when they were new? If so, you're under quite a bit as they were £34,500 before you started putting on the extras.

You will always pay more for a rare version. Only about 18 mk 2 made and only about 9 left so they will always be at a premium price.
exclusivity comes at a price

Just got back from picking up the car and it is awesome, i'm chuffed to bits

Iain also kindly gave me a copy of Total Impreza magazine in which the car was featured and on the front cover

Haven't stretched it's legs yet as Iain told me to take it easy for a bit as the car has hardly been used for a while, 1000miles in 2 years according to the service book

Just tried to take some pics but they came out all fuzzy will try again and get some up on here!!
