I think the feature is due to lad being young and the fact that slamming/hella flush scene has now started to take off now in the UK.

You have to bear in mind car mod magazines have been around donkeys years now and there only so many half decent modded cars out there to feature........The "500bhp cosworth, impreza" and what ever else is out there has been done to death by the magazines so they have to look elee where, which is probably why I stopped buying them a long time ago....but obviously younger people will...

think it's the crossing of themes, certain manufacturers used to be associated with certain trends

ie euro/dub cars were veedubs
rally slags tended to be scoobs and evos

think it's just refreshing that people are doing what they want to their cars rather than following the 'rules'.........

+1

Im a little tired of people rubbishing anything that looks diffrent, and reading mags with cars with mods way beyond the price range of the average Joe.

Been following this thread since the start, car looks the Nuts Tom.

And the fact that i have smoothed out not only the front splitter, but the front bumper aswell. Never seen this done before so makes the car unique. also painted the bumper myself aswell.

With the greatest of respect, but there are probably hundreds of cars just on this forum running 400-500bhp, but there are maybe a handfull that look like this.

I also think that the fact that all of the work has been carried out by myself on my driveway plays a big part. I havnt just dropped the car off at a workshop, payed a lot of money, picked it up and claimed all the work was my own....And i also think that the price budget that this car has been built on will also show people that you can build a good looking car for less than £2k!

I think it deserves the magazine feature and it does look bloody good in the magazine shots. On the other hand though it is a bit 'all show, no go'.

It's a good build thread so far and it's good to see your progress.......BUT PLEASE don't put those wheels from the poll on it! Leave it as it is.

O yeah it is all show and no go, but i struggle with my insurance as it is now being only 19! There is no way i could get insured on this with engine mods done! Dont get me wrong i love performance and speed as much, if not more, than most people. Ive been studying Motorsport Engineering for 5 years, about to get my degree in it, and work part time at Aston Martin Racing at Prodrive!

....and its not about that anyway. Its a different form of modifying. This is my only car, i use it to go everywhere, work, uni, holiday, so i dont want to reduce the fuel economy to any less than it is now.

I think its just taste, when im driving on the road most of the time, it wouldnt change anything weather my car had 300bhp or 150bhp. I drive to uni through busy towns, and to work on motorways, so i would never get chance to use all that extra power.......i get my fix for speed on the tracks anyway Do more than my fair share of Karting and motocross

This is what i use when i want to go fast

Judging by the photographer and the style, i'm guessing this is a feature in Fast Car?

To the guys not saying this is a feature car, pick up a copy of the mag, this is all they feature. Which also makes me chuckle a bit at those saying it's unique. It's not. Look at Fast Car, all the cars follow the same rules.

Lower it, expensive 'unique' wheels, have the same sticker set (must include canibeat), have a big tow hook with something random hanging off it...

Nothing against your car dude, anyone who does anything with cars has my respect, but it's not unique.

Nice car, and again, respect for building it, but for me, an Impreza is for driving, and driving hard.

Well ive never seen an impreza with fog covers smoothed into the bumper, or a smoothed prodrive splitter....so that does kinda make it unique

Right bit of an update......Scoob is going soon. Been offered a swap with a mate for his JDM eunos roadster, aslong as he can get insured on this we will be swapping next week.

If he cant get insured then the scoob will be up for sale next week Shame to see her go but had fun with it and i really cant turn this offer down as ive wanted this car for the past year!

To be honest im getting a bit bored of the scooby now. Ive always wanted an MX5 and this is the best one ive seen, and ive got the oppurtunity to own it!

Thinking about running this mx5 next year and then maybe making a return to Subaru's with something mad. Will be looking for crazy power if/when i return to subaru's

As i said, the parts alone are worth over £1650, so the car itself is £1600.

And where can you find a clasic impreza in great condition with only 3 owners from new, and 55, 000 miles? I couldnt find any

Problem is that no one will pay for the mods unless they want those exact mods and even then you will get nowhere near what they cost.

You would be better putting it back to standard and selling the parts separately tbh.

There are UK Turbos with not many more miles than that seling for less than £2K with performance mods.
