EBC Brakes new generation disc pad materials tests and reviews

Never drive brakes real hard and then pull up and let them rest, you must drive for a few minutes to allow the rotors to cool or the pads will blanket the rotors and ruin those and the pads.
You must keep the wheels turning after heavy driving till the system cools a little so NEVER park a car with red hot brakes, cooldown lap when at a trackday also
Cheers

After all i think that pads should have performed much better since that wasnt Auto X, race track or something like that...that was street spirited driving in late night hours, so brake pads load was probably much less then those pads are meant to take...
Maybe i am just one of a very few that received bad pads or something like that...
I am now thinking about upgrading pads to some model that has slightly better performance...any suggestions maybe?
P.S I have front Alcon 6pot mono block caliper at front, disc size 343mm ( same fitted on Litchfield T20 and probably FQ400 )

I also saw this in your last post in this thread...
"Drivers have reported blue contact bands in the centre of the rotor which shows clearly that full contact has not been achieved when they experience this vibration"
English is not my language so i dont understand everything the right way but i think that i have some symptoms on my discs like you described...
I've noticed some marks in the middle section of the rotors, like some dark color or burnt metal marks, from time to time when i drive my car a bit faster...Could this be that maybe rotors are bad and the pads doesnt have full contact with it or something like that so that causes my brake pedal to drop and to reduce stopping power after really short period of heavy brake usage?
I have 1 more set od Bluestuff pads but should i replace the rotors as well so i could be sure that the brakes will function normal again or i should maybe just replace old pads with the new ones and leave the rotors...?

Alright Andy.
Hopefully you will be seeing an order for the NDX Blue stuff pads coming in shortly for a B7 RS4 (Aztec says the rears have not been made before so shall take about 2 weeks )
Anyway I was wondering if you have any plans for making replacement rotors for the 2005 onwards RS4 as they are not listed on your site and my brothers are starting to look a bit grooved.
Cheers
Graeme

Just to keep guys in the picture
1) Great reports still coming in on the Bluestuff NDX.
2) One or two guys saying for all out race we need something a little tougher on the rotor. Tht will be the new Orange grade, in the starting gates now, have some good starting point test blends done that show up well in the lab , however we will NOT be changing Bluestuff NDX blend as it is a GREAT fast street and tracfkday pad once bedded and is the ONLY pad anywhere that you can drive legally to the track and home and will work on the street in slow traffic, others being dangerous.
3)Good comments comning now on the EVO group, thread being started for forum reviews over there so all in all, I have to say I am very plkeased with how Bluestuff NDX has worked after a full year now we have sold over 3000 sets worldwide and had about 12 people give feedback that is not "perfect", most of those bedding issues or the need for a higher spec RACE ONLY pad that EBC,s new Orange will cover. Thing is most punters dont want a race only pad, they want to drive their cars on the street and the odd blip on a track and thats what Blue is all about.
I am looking at the RS4 discs G mac

Looking forward to getting my hands on a set already!!!

Yellowstuff
Yellow stuff pads supplied by Andy have been in my car for almost a year. (Every day driver)
No problems whatsoever.
We have covered approximately 8000 miles since fitted, on all types of road, speed and all temperatures down to -8 degrees.
Cannot fault them and will always recommend EBC Brakes.
Cheers andy and EBC
regards
Morfo

EBC Orangestuff has now arrived :
"Due for launch in October 2011 is the new full race material code named EBC Orangestuff. Here is a basic preview of what the new material will do.
Friction level - 0.5 rising to 0.6 under load
Material base - semi-metallic
Target use - closed circuit racing only
R90 Approval - Will not be tested to R90
Following on from the huge success of the new EBC Bluestuff NDX range, customer demand has indicated the need for a more aggressive full race material for track only use that is not required to bring a vehicle to rest (which Bluestuff NDX was specifically designed to do) and this has led to the development of the orange grade material. The material will be dusty and slightly more aggressive on brake rotors which is the trade off when using a full race pad and cannot be avoided.
The range of pads available in Orangestuff will be announced soon but similar to the Bluestuff NDX range and available for all faster street based caliper designs and aftermarket race calipers.
If you wish to drive your car to the track and race it, you CANNOT use Orangestuff. It is not European street legal or safe and likely never will be ECE R 90 street legal .Even in countries where there is no such consideration of ECE R 90 (a European brake safety regulation) Orange grade is NOT designed for highway style driving and is more designed to scrub off speed on track use. Orange is a TRACK ONLY MATERIAL.
On the contrary Bluestuff is a material capable of track use on most vehicles and is now also street legal. The different in the compounds is immense. Bluestuff may work great on better designed calipers on the track but the fastest cars on STREET design calipers may push blue beyond its limits due to reduced cooling, reduced pad release and smaller rotor diameters associated with a standard set up."

My first 2 test sets arrived today....these will be scrubbed in soon ready for the final round of Time Attack at Snetterton....
They've have had a positive review on the GTR forum where the NDX compound struggled with the 1800kg mass of the GTR car...
Looking forward to giving them a try on my car....will start a new thread for the orangestuff once they have been tested on the track...

Wait for the new star pattern high carbon disc's from EBC. If any thing as good as their Bluestuff pads we are all going to be onto a winner. Send Andy a pm and ask him about the new discs.
FYI my Bluestuff pads are still going strong with no fade issues at all. Awesome pad at a good price!

Hey guys. I run my Bluestuff for a year with no issues. I then move on to the High carbon Blade discs and some Orangestuff pads which i have been using over a year. Not so sure if it is the discs of the pads that are so good but the combo of both are killer.
The Orangestuff pads take a few goes to warm up but nothing like that feeling you cant stop, the pads also have a bit more brake dust than the Blues but a small price to pay.
I had some telemetry recordings for my Godspeed 2 piece with Bluestuff from 60mph to 0 and then the EBC High carbon with Orangestuff but due to my Iphone crashing i cant share at the moment. It was a huge difference!
Thumbs up from me.

I changed to Bluestuff NDX a couple of years ago and found them an improvement for road use over the DS2500 I had before however, I recently did a trackday at Snetterton and they scared me silly! After a few hard applications, they faded badly to the point where I eased off on the straight in anticipation of the chicane after the bridge. They were smoking when back in the pits! Maybe I was braking too hard, too late but I won't use them again on track.
