Thanks Andy for the reply.

PERSONALLY for me the Yellows worked well to start with but haven't been stopping me as I wanted recently. Lots of life left on them too.

Not attacking EBC don't get me wrong just my personal feedback. I think it is very hard to construct feedback when everyone drives different meaning the pedal feed will be different from one driver to another so don't envy you on this task.

I would like to know some feedback from the new Blue pads. I am at the moment (depending on what road I use) feathering the brake pedal at the moment before I put my foot down on the middle pedal just to get some form of heat and stopping power in them.

Remember some of the feedback will be users who have classics, some users will have classics modified and of course users with the heavy arsed Newage be it modfied or standard or even some with all of the above with or with added camber weights etc etc. In which case some cars brakes will work harder than the next persons etc.

Many thanks Andy for the Bluestuff pads that arrived today , they are being fitted next week and will be tested initially in a series of runs around the Brecon Beacons.

I'll post up my findings in due course and offer a comparison against the Ferodo DS2500 pads currently fitted in the AP Racing 6 pot calipers.

Well I am very interested in reports on these blues, I have ran EBC brakes in my scooby sti since day 1, also ran them on previuos cars since the discount was given to the BMMC marshals, thats been quite a while, started on the reds front and back, then onto the yellows on the front, as Bob Sketchly would tell ya, lol, how is me ole mate.

anyways, what discs are the guys running that are trying out the blues, I myself have the Ulitmax discs all round, did have a proplem with the fronts but bob got that sorted for me very quick, i have found these a very good disc and with the yellows fitted, they great cold bite and very litle to no fade after a very spirited drive, but with all solid discs on the brembo caliper, there is more wear on the inner face of the disc, not just EBC but any of the solid discs out there on the market, would EBC be thinking of bringing out a floating bell disc set up, ??

Would be interested in trying the blues on the Ulitmax disc

Well then i have fitted the new set of ebc bluestuff brake pads that andy sent free of charge.
The brake setup i have is subaru 4pots up front and subaru 2pots at the rear on my
1997 uk classic running 360/360.
I have done over a 100 miles and they are every bit as good as andy said they would be.
From cold they are just about the same as the kevlar pads i had in place before but
unlike the kevlar pads there is no brake fade, the bluestuff just keep biting and biting under heavy brakeing and stoping from high speeds.
These are by far the best pads ive had on this setup and would recommend them to
anyone useing the same calipers,if you need to change your pads give them ago
you wont be disappointed.
once again thanks andy.

Changed the EBC yellow stuff pads last week to the standard callipers front and back and they were straight forward to fit to my type r no problems what so ever, the pads I took off were cheap one's they felt wooden and didn't stop you very well at all. I went for my first run and all I can say wow the difference was incredible even though I was using them gently they have so much more bite and stopping power I had to totally recalibrate my braking. I have now put several hundred miles on the pads and they have seemed to have bedded in to my EBC grooved and drilled disc's brilliantly with very minimal brake dust and I now have the best brake's I have ever had on the car since I purchased it in march 2004.Up to now no brake fade no judder just good initial bite with very powerful stopping power,Today was the first day I have used them in the wet and they are very good. Now my wife cannot take the mickey out of my car any more she says “yes it goes but it doesn't stop though”. They are a great improvement over the old pads and I am over the moon with the performance of the new one's and thanks again Andy

I've had my EBC Blue stuff pads on for about 300 miles now; 2003 STI with gold Brembo's, Godspeed discs, and braided lines.

Got to say from initially putting them on they worked fantastic from the off, and felt as if they were pre-bedded....which I know that's how they were suppose to work!

I think they work as well as my PF Z-Rated pads, and another bonus is they don't knock like the PF ones when changing direction.

I'm doing a track day in just under 2 weeks, so will report back again!

I look forward to hearing more on EBC direct for OEM replacement floating discs. That really would be excellent and stop me from spending money on oversize floating rotors and calipers when there are direct OEM size floaters. I bet they will be awesome with Bluestuff all round.

I tested Yellows for you 2 or 3 yrs ago and i still use yellows all round to this day with Turbo Grooved on the back and Ultimax on the front. These Blues sound more like my kind of pads though and i'm ready for a change. The sharper the better i think.

Nice work Andy

Great results so far then which I felt sure we would have but lets see what the fully bedded reviews say as they come in.

This Test actually involves 42 driver 28 using new EBC Bluestuff and the rest asked for yellows as they do minimal track work. We have in all cases changed front and rear together for a balanced result.

The only address I dont have was a driver called JDM STig and I need that please.

So far 100% positive but still bedding in various new set ups, remembering even with a pre bedded pad like the new EBC Blues if you replace all four pads and rotors there are a lot of components to "Seat" so 300-400 miles is a normal bed in whereas on a track with decent discs a couple of laps would bed the new Blues in.

Thanks to all drivers for your feedback so far, had a few non fits and we need to sort that out in scooby language, its hard to catalog bug eye, classic, etc as words and many cars we are dealing with are grey imports but having said that I amn happy and pleased with the feedback and challenge any other brake company to give away random 42 car sets of brakes and see what is said by such a diverse audience.

Cheers to all

Here is a review that my mate (who is a far better driver than me) wrote after he had fitted the Bluestuff brake pads to my Spec C, the car has AP Racing 6 Pot front calipers and the gold Brembo rear calipers.

https://www.scoobynet.com/wales-26/8...-on-a4069.html

I did tell him to "drive it like he stole it" and believe me that he does not hold back when road conditions permit, as you can see by the glowing brake discs in the first pic.

I will write a further review after the weekend after I take it on a run up to Mid Wales.

Yes I have fitted a set to my work car on friday along with grooved discs , and last week to my sons EVO 7 , and first impressions they seem very good , I have never had any confidence in the EBC pads ever since day one , they seemed to win award after award in the Max power type magazines , and I always wondered why , because I found them shockingly bad.

From what I can gather Andy has recently taken over EBC , and it seems as though they have got there act together and now make a pad worthy of there claims.

The cold bite seems very good , compared to the PF Z rated pads and Ferodo Ds2500's , both these pads seem to be the market leaders when it comes to performance pads , and both seem to need some heat in them before they are at there best , the Bluestuff pads work much better from the off.

Its early days in my car yet as I have only done about 50 miles on the discs , but so far they are very good , my son fitted them onto my 2 piece discs and bells on his EVO which are well bedded in , and I told him to go and give them death and see what they are like , and so far has failed to fade them ! he said they just keep going .

I am waiting for a price list on these for the Subaru ranges , and if the prices are competitive against the others mentioned above I can see I'm going to be selling quite a few sets of these.

So far a big thumbs up from me , and that's the first time I have ever done that with an EBC pad

Cheers Ian

Cheers Ian, they will just keep getting better dont worry about that.

The price list for Blues on its way, we will BEAT every Ferodo, Mintex and PFC price or I will amend the price until they do beat them.

It will be a pleasure to make GODSPEED an official outlet for EBC latest pad ranges and I wish you well, info on its way.

I am limiting the number of outlets who have access to these pads so that we only place them in the hands of people who know what they are doing and youre certainly one of those. I think we all learned from that people with back yard caliper rebuild operations and we want serious customers to get serious service.

Cheers

Well I've had mine fitted for nearly a month now and done just under 1000 miles. As said, the cold bite is ver good, They work well from the off and just improve throughout the journey.

They got a very good work out on the weekend with a 540 mile round trip to santa pod. Which included some high speed stops, plenty of heavy braking into bends and plenty of braking for round abouts. They had an extra bashing on the way back upsetting a couple of power rangers (Bikers) around Brecon to Llandovery. The Brakes never faded once and installed plenty of confidance.

I'm very impressed at how quiet they are. Miles better than the mintex 1155 I had fitted to a previous set of Brembos, they worked well but drove me nuts round town.

I'm happy to stick with these from now on providing the price remains as competive as your other ranges.

Well I rather liked EBC Bluestuff too - my review and link to my original thread are below!

https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...d-4-2-1-a.html

" Hello all,

I was one of the Scoobynetters that Andy Freeman of EBC sent free Bluestuff pads out to with a view to reviewing them on here. I agreed to do so, pointing out that they would not be used on the track (Andy said although they are designed primarily for the track were great on road too) and that my review would be "warts 'n' all", regardless of the fact the pads were sent free.

My car is a 2001 WRX, modded to 301/290 with an Andy F Hybrid TD04 turbo and has braided hoses and Dot 5.1 brake fluid.

The previous pads were Pagid 4.2.1s (ie Blacks), so in all honesty I was expecting the EBCs to be a step down, noting that they are quite a bit cheaper. I'm pleased to say that this has proved not to be the case.

These pads have only been out since July 2010 and EBC reckon the fact they are "heat scorched" means that bed in time is minimal, ie they pretty much come "bedded in". Well, I thought that I'd put that to the test and within 5 miles of driving after fitting I went straight onto my favourite local twisty road, the "Lang Whang". EBC were right enough - the pads worked great from the off. What great stopping power! No issues from cold and good initial bite!

I took the car out for a second test along the Lang Whang today. Did enough testing to make my girlfriend say she quite literally felt sick (sorry lass!). Did two "emergency" stops from 70mph to 0mph. Suberb stopping. Didn't get any fade although note I can't vouch for track use.

So, as a summary, my views on EBC Bluestuff pads from July 2010 are:

overall stopping power - superb
fade - none on the road on my test
use when cold - good, don't appear to need warmed up
initial bite - good
brake dust - definately less than average for brakes of this calibre

I'd have to say that I prefer the new Bluestuff to the Pagids (which are also very good) - will be interested to hear the comments of others that have come from this standard of pads.

I had planned to try DS2500s when I finally get an 06 Sti, but now I think it may be getting Bluestuff intead!"

Andy Mc

Having had a good chance to give the brakes a real world test this weekend on the drive back down from Mid Wales I have to say that the Bluestuff pads are even better than I was expecting.

On an 8 mile stretch of twisty B road between Newbridge-on-Wye and Beulah where I could really open the car up and test the pads I have to say that not once did I suffer from any brake fade. In fact the pads operate so well that you can brake a lot later if you feel the need and they really do inspire confidence.

From cold the Bluestuff brake pads work a lot better than the Ferodo DS2500 brake pads that were previously fitted, the performance when the pads get up to operating temperature is superior in every respect to the DS2500 pads which in their own right are a very good brake pad.

My car is a 2004 Spec C Motorsport, 350bhp and has AP Racing 6 Pot (CP7040) front calipers and gold STi Brembo 2 pot rear calipers.

I checked the wheels for the expected telltale brake dust but I found that there was less than the DS2500's would have deposited, as with the previous poster I tried a couple of emergency stops from high speed and was very surprised at how quickly the car was brought to a total rest.

In closing I would recommend the EBC Bluestuff brake pads to anyone who enjoys some 'spirited' driving, and given the previous test on my car when the pads were fitted I can only imagine the performance improving.

Well done to EBC on developing a market leading product.

Finally got my blues in last night. Car is a hawk WRX running 290bhp and 350lb/ft torque.
Completely standard Subaru 4 pot pistons at front and 2 pot on the rear. Disks are also standard and as the car has only 12 k they are still as new

Out with the OEM pads and in with the blues.

The intial cold bite is just as good as OEM so took then for a good run to let them bed in.
Then a good spirited drive and whooo what a difference. The stopping power is incredible and I was delighted. What a difference just changing the pads makes. These EBC Bluestuff pads are superb.

I must say a big thankyou to Andy Freeman and I may I wish you every success with a great new product

Chris (a very happy customer)
