ripped off!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt mean the sales thing, however I guess that helps too. I meant the amount of time and effort he/she has put into their username. someone that has been on here for 10 years and x amount of posts and known to all is less likely to rip someone off thats been here 2 months and 40 posts if you get me.
There should be slightly more interest from the "sponsor" in these matters then you are less likely to end up with this **** storm. IMHO of course.

As an outside observer it is clear to all that the engine was known to be a dud.
The ex owner of the engine saying he was unaware of the true condition of the engine because it was in a car without MOT or TAX doesn't sit well - I am as straight as they come, but I would have driven the car 'around the block' to see what it was like!
On the other hand, £300 for a Scooby Engine is cheap and indicates a dud in all honesty ... the willingness of the seller to drop from £500 to £300 also points to a duff engine. But the buyer should have resisted the 'bargain'!
The buyer was taken in by a bargain offer ... and the seller took £300 for a known knackered engine.
Considering that the seller has admitted the engine means nothing to him, then the seller should refund the £300 and allow the buyer to keep the engine. The buyer can repair and fit. In this way the seller doesn't have to pay compensation (the costs involved) and the buyer gets his initial £300 back.
That would seem the way forward. A court would want to see some movement from both sides ... the side who refuses to move will get the order of the court against them. If the court finds in favour of the buyer then the full costs will be awarded. However, the fact remains that the engine was cheap and the court will need to consider whether a knackered engine of this type is worth £300.
I believe that the court will come to the conclusion that we are talking about an engine worth around £300, in the state it was sold in.
It's always better to compromise and I hope it can be sorted.

First things first there are 2 sides to every story for a start the engine was sold for 300 pound not 1000 and the treads about engine being changed was a mates car like when scooby2010 txt me asking is this the engine with the melted piston I told him no so that means he knew how to look at my threads and when he came down for the engine he txt me asking is there anything wrong with the engine and I simply txt him saying I bourt a subaru for 450 pound and when it was idling it was missfiring and I didn't frive the car cause it had no tax or mot and I dint buy the car for the engine I bourt it for the shell 2 put a 2.5 non turbo engine in for a rd rally do engine came stright out with out test driving it only hered it idel for 5 minns and it was missfireing and he was imformed about this and have the txt to prove this if he wants to take it to a small claims I'm happy to go and for people posting the adress of that house I think you should stop and stop the threats about people comming to see me and stop them about the nirtomors I think a lot of lies have been told her and you havel jumped the gun
May-early June you have a 93 K reg WRX that is a runner (4th gear 5k rpm) showing all sorts of problems with oil leaks. Turns out it has some sort of seal and a piston gone.
Mid June you start asking about how to do a engine swap on a 93 K reg WRX, asking about how to get a gearbox off and soon afterwards about how to fill it up with coolant.
This now appears to be an engine swap for "a mate".
Early July you report that a 92 K reg WRX is running rough. Is this the £450 car non runner that the engine is pulled from and sold on?
So you own 2 K reg WRXs, your mate also has a K reg WRX and both engines from your 2 cars have piston/oil leak problems?
Just what are the chances of that

The second I found out that the guy KNEW this engine was buggered before he sold it (as evident by the other post, I'd be back down his gaff and would ram it through his front door. Shortly followed by ramming a con rod down his throat if he didn't give my money back.
C***s like this don't learn by pansying about with court action.
Don't know why, but seeing this via the other thread has boiled my ****.
F*** the courts, get some mates and rock up to his house and ask politely* for your money back.
*not strictly accurate

thats what makes this worse about selling a duff engine, you know the poor guy is going to have to fit it and take it out again and then fit another one , i do my own work on my car and i know the effort required to do that, that alone would **** me off really really bad.
as said the engine was only £300 but really he owes that guy a grand cos of the costs involved.

If you do take action, take the legal route. All the "going round there or sending someone round to give him a slap" route does is land you in more trouble with the BiB than the person who is accused of ripping you off.
Yes it may give some a sense of satisfaction but you won't feel satisfied when they've reported you and had you nicked for GBH and you're sitting in a police cell and looking at the prospect of no job which may lead onto the loss of other things. The missus, your home etc while your at her majesty's pleasure for 6 months as a result.
In my view until we see the proof that the op was informed that the engine was a dud, he deserves his money back and some if not all the costs involved in purchasing, transporting and then fitting and removal.

Look if you all think your it send boys down fine I will meet you at thats address just tell me when ur coming and I will meet you there and the number he give you all ring it I will just get another pay as you go sim its none of your bees wax so pi+ss off

The reason everyone is so angry at you is purely for the fact that, by the looks of your previous posts, you knowingly sold a bad engine!
Lets flip it around a little, what if it happened to you? how happy would you be? im still amazed how calm the op has remained over this because as you can see, and in general really, people dont like fellow enthusiasts,or anybody for that matter, getting done over.
Ita alright you saying "come round and i will meet you there" etc but in all honestly if the op did turn up you wouldnt have a leg to stand on!
I for one have found that the subaru "community" are one of the most welcoming and helpfull car clubs around, but as with anything theres always someone that ruins it.
I would think if you sorted the op out with the money he is owed, and learn from the hassle you have caused him, people might be more helpful to you in the future should you need help, if you decide your not going to do the decent thing, then i would pray you dont need anyones help.......

I am still amazed that the guy has not offered the £300 + a small amount towards costs incurred???? that gesture would go a long way to restoring at least some credibility.
He says his car is being prepped for road rallying, he really needs to think what would have happened if he had sold a duff engine to the rally guys doesn't bare thinking about PAY THE LAD HIS MONEY BACK FFS!
Some have said that the OP was a little naive in buying an engine for £300, maybe? But we should bear in mind that he is new to the subaru scene, if he has say come from a vauxhall or ford back ground then GOOD engines can be picked up for £300 to £500 so we should cut him some slack

Bigtit88,
Are you really soo stupid to think that telling everyone to p1ss off will make this whole thing go away? Don't you care that you've blatently ripped someone off?

I get the feeling there wont be any refund.Go the legal route to get your money back.He knew exactly what he was doing when he sold the engine .£300 in his **** pocket is the result he wanted.

Confirmation of being a scroate recieved.
Simply for this drivel and the fact you can't answer any of the questions put to you puts you in the rip off merchant bracket.
I do hope someone takes someone you care about for a lot more so you know how it feels to deal with a person like you are. Next time you look in a mirror i wouldn't see anything to be proud of.
Refund his £300 and leave it at that. You have the chance here to do the right thing. Try it.
5t.

Please, please be a man and pay him the money back plus a contribution to his additional expense incurred. Can you not see how foolish this whole thing makes you look? Seriously.
