Peace.
I'm not getting personal at all ... least I didn't think I was?
You suggested that I was grouping criminal scum together and maybe I shouldn't do that, that's all ........... I do, however, group criminals together (and would like to see more grouped together in prison!)
That's our only difference .. nothing personal
You are correct, we are talking about criminal scum here ..... not low-lifes. I'm sure I haven't got the two mixed up (but, in a lot of cases, they go hand-in-hand)
True, some are very wealthy and scam others of their money. But, let's be honest, most crime comes from those who have not .... stealing from those who have.
I didn't think you were a Bloke, I didn't think you were a woman - I treat everyone alike on here
We can, at least, agree on liking breasts
Peace ..................

The problem is most criminals in the UK are not bothered about going to prison. Infact some drug users go on a crime spree hope they get caught to spend a few weeks in prison. No rent, no bills, and food. maybe get clean for a few weeks then back out to start again.
Personally i do not know if prison is the answer to re-offender, but if it is not a deterient then its a losing battle from the start.
The job i do sometimes i have to work with offenders, i have seen some kids who have been to prison (or young offenders) come out and not re-offendered. But i have seen others who have learnt more inside, come out and moved up the criminal ladder.
This topic is always going to cause disagreements and strong views.

Here's an example which happened at the nick a couple of weeks ago.
A lad walked in to reception. He didn't have a bail appointment and hadn't been warned in for arrest.
He asked the receptionist to arrange for him to be sent to prison. Obviously that can't be done.
He spent five minutes pleading until having finally realised that he had to have committed an offence, he then put a fire extinguisher through the window, in an attempt to get nicked for criminal damage.
In interview he stated that he simply wanted to go back inside as it's better than being free.

or re-use Anthrax Island. Give them an old container as a house and some seeds to plant & live off.
The problem is as well, is that once they get out, they go back to their old mates/associates and they are straight back to crime. People who spend a lot of time in jail should be sent to the other end of the country - or Afghanistan
