Why is it always good news / bad news?!
Fixed the fuel leak on 2 of the injectors, primed the oil system and then tried to start her. The good news is that she fired up!!!

Unfortunately there seem to be oil coming from the cam covers and dripping on the exhaust. So now I have to strip everything to get the covers off
, which is a bit annoying as I fitted all new seals.
I think Thursday and Friday night will be spent driving from J49 to J28 half a dozen times, just to get the miles on for Saturday.

Still waiting for a reply from the supplier, what was great service has turned into **** poor service at the moment. Good job I didn't wait for it to arrive.
I take a look at that, it does seem to be gathering around the foam where the cams though. It'll be a bit tight to get the rocker covers off with the block in. I will still check behind the cam cover though, incase there is a problem.

As has been said, you need to use sealant when fitting the cam covers, but be careful you dont use too much as it will squirt either side of the gasket and on the inside of the cover there is a risk of the excessive sealant breaking away and then working its way around the engine, which could quite easily end up blocking an oil way!
The official wkshop manual tells you to put a SMALL amount of sealant in 3 places.
1. Across the face 1/2 moon seals at the rear of the head.
2. The edge of the front cam caps where they meet the cyl head. This edge is at almost right angles and the rubber gasket has rounded edges so needs a bit of help to form a perfect seal.
3. The front cam caps should also have the tiniest amount applied to the underside on the face where it meets the cyl head. this to prevent oil seeping past the oil seal & the edges of the joint between the cap and the head. DO NOT apply too much here as the torque figure is v.low & it will prevent the cap seating correctly.

The cam covers had sealant applied as per the manual, as you say, across the 1/2 moon seals and around the cam caps. I also sealed under the cam caps as per the manual.
Either I still have to apply more sealant to the cam cover, or the crank / cam seals themselves are leaking. I'm pulling the timing belt cover tonight to make sure the belt / cams haven't been contaminated with oil.
Thanks to everyone for the advice and I'll let you know how I get on

Great feeling to get back behind the wheel Rich, good progress with the miles mate !! I've done the heady figure of 80 !!!!!!!! so far - need to pull my fingers out !!!!! good luck for the map session too
, at this rate the MOT will be due before your oil change/remap.

No higher than 80. My run in (excluding the very gentle first 25 miles) is:
First 500 miles, no higher than 0.3 bar, no higher than 4k revs.
Next 500 miles, no higher than 0.5 bar, no higher than 5k revs.
Trying to put a mixed load on the engine, but it is difficult to do on the motorway. My map only needs a tweek for the new plugs, as everything else is the same as before.

I think I'm being a bit easy on her - I've done no more than around 3k revs and no more than 50-60 with 0 boost, or at least I don't build up much and it hovers around the 0 bar mark !
Thats good tbh, I`ve not had my speedo working until last night so have been guessing my miles lol. Think I`ll get mine mapped in a few months when I`ve got a job lol, then she should do better and maybe give me better off boost mpg.

Hope you get it sorted
