I was thinking 1 - 1.5k miles should do it. Then drop the oil and go and see Bob.

Quick update for everyone. Got the blocks back from the machine shop on Saturday and started the rebuild. Had an issue with a piston, which meant a wait for new pistons rings. They arrived yesterday so I was able to fit the heads. Today was fitting the turbo, water / breather pipes, timing covers and cogs.

Tomorrow is the timing belt, exhaust manifold. Thursday will be the inlet manifold and other ancilleries. Hopefully I'll get the engine dropped back in on Friday.

Here's a pic so far:

Thanks for the comments guys.
Got everything done tonight, apart from the timing belt. Hopefully this will be fitted tomorrow and the covers can go on. On schedule to have it running on the weekend.

I found one of them I think the other has gone down the back of the racking. I won't need one for now, but may be in touch over the weekend.

Thanks for dropping the exhaust in, I'm sure you won't be getting it back and I'll be handing over some green

Hopefully not. Dylan has assured me that the timing cog will be with me tonight. So I can time it up, fit the covers and then give the manifold a clean, as it seems to have oily hands prints all over it

I thought you would have put them in a 'safe' place but it was so safe you couldn't remember where it was , hope the fitment goes well.

At 11 o'clock I gave up, knackered and absolutely soaked through. Whatever I try the damn thing will not slot into place, the lambda sensor in the uppipe is catching on the chassis, tried to remove it but it is stuck fast in the exhaust.

Going to have another attempt this morning and see where we're at.

Took the exhaust manifold off to give me more room and the engine slid in but would still not mate up the the gearbox. Turns out the new exedy clutch plate doesn't fit on the gearbox spindle

Spoke to the supplier and they are going to look into it Monday. Seriously running out of time and it ain't looking promising

New clutch won't be here, realistically until the end of the week. With my mapping session booked for Saturday, I decided yesterday to drop the block back in after work.

Got everything back in and wired up, primed the fuel system and found that there a fuel leak. Tonight will be spent stripping bits out and trying to find which injector is leaking.
