OK, if I get this correctly, you have the address for Luke and Jean (whoever Jean is!). If you do, then post it up, one of the guys from the area, or even a few can go over and see if they cvan extract the info. Even a part of the address every day may force whoever the scammer is to give you some cash back.
allsop, of course you are reporting him to the police and you do not support any viligant action. However, any help fellow members can give on locating this person and the eventual return of your money would be gratefully recieved.

Got to say Piston heads are a bunch of *****. saw a Vectra SRI I was selling on ebay listed on there for sale for £3k cheaper than what I had it advertised for on ebay, phoned the bloke he told me he had had the car from new ( it was still parked outside my house)
Phoned and emailed Piston heads the car was still for sale 3 weeks later
gave the police the phone no and address the guy gave me to come and look at the car, they also did nothing, !!!

I was sent the payment for my exhaust system "as a gift" vai Paypal by the buyer from the states (because it will save on paypal fees). no probs at all system sent next day a nd he ws very happy to do so by paypal.
So not all sellers are scammers !!

Alright guys, thought I would let you all know the outcome of this!
This guy was arrested last year and interviewed over the offenses at which point he admited the scam and said he would pay the money back to me.
When the case was brought to court he then pled NOT GUILTY, now, the british law system is such that he is allowed to do this.....even after admitting the offense!!
Basically this was just to test my resolve (the witnes & complainant in this case) to see if I would bother to travel to Birmingham for the offense....
FOR £1400 DAMN RIGHT I'LL BOTHER!!
Anyway, I was flown down to Birmingham magistrates (all having to be paid for by the Crown Prosecution Service....draining our economy even further...) to give my evidence, where on turning up to court in the morning he gave a guilty plea and I never had to do a thing.
He is now awaiting sentencing which should be in a couple of weeks as he is also being charged with another offence so they will both be tied in together.
Got the b*st*rd and I hope he gets what's coming.......
As far as getting my money back- he claims poverty/homelessness etc. so can't see it all coming back in a oner but we have submitted a compensation claim against him and I don't care if it comes back in £5 a week installments- I will be happy to get back what this scumbag owes.....
I can only thank every one of you for your help in getting all the information on this guy to get the ball rolling and hopefully this wil serve as a warning to any other smart @rses looking to rip folk off on OUR, the REAL enthusiasts, forum!

What an outcome for you, well done for sticking things out and not being taken for a fool!
The justice system does suck, surely the courts should have access too peoples bank accounts too see if it is true when they plead poor, low income etc...
