ASBO Ayrshire\M88 TT's (VXRS) are having a meet on the 23rd of this month with Ayrshire Scoobs.
You guys are welcome (obviously some are a bit far away though).
At the moment there's nearly 40 cars going, we all get on as we respect each others cars up here.
Well usually.

Lmao @ comments on both sites, please put the blinkers away and step into the real world! Road racing is all about who has the biggest bollocks and you never know how much power the other car is running!
Banny

had to larf at one of the comments on the other forum, blokes says 'if your getting torque steer go to the gym', isn't that kinda the point? lol
tbh the simple answer, evlington, standard vs standard, decat and map vs decat and map, medium level mods vs medium level mods, drag and a sprint circuit.
no point in bringing the big boys out though cos that would be a forgone conclusion (time attack anyone? lol)

The widely accepted figures for a standard vxr of around 6.2 secs to 60mph and 16.2 to 100mph were dismissed as irrelevant because it was claimed that the vxr needs to be 'rolling' to be seen at its straight line best. Well the car is surely rolling at 60 mph and it still takes 10 secs to reach 100 mph, a figure that is beaten by 2 seconds plus by Subarus current crop of hatches and by many models that have gone before. It's a case of fantasy over fact.
And as if by MAGIC.

looool this has gone on long enough...thanks for all the info lads, i now know vxr's are ok but it is still a vauxhall!! lol...i dont care anymore if he beat me, i knw he defo had mods done to his so i just need to up my game!!

Have to say this has kept me from getting any work done for a good few minutes! Lol.
"Rumour has it the VXR only achieved the 6.2second time by using 19" alloys which allowed it to stay in 2nd gear"
Any truth in this?
I have just recently sold my Astra 1.9 cdti 150 and to be honest it was a tidy enough car- little bit of poke but handling left a lot to be desired. Horrible understeer and it would light up the front tyres in second gear on anything but flat/bone dry surfaces.
Accepting that it may drive differently to the VXR....or are they quite similar?
I also own a P1 running 330bhp with just a decat/filter/remap and wouldn't have considered a VXR as something I particularly felt the need to "race".
Both cars might have been similar in pace as standard you rekon?
4.6 to 60 13.3 to 100 = 8.7 from 60-100
VS
6.2 to 60 16.4 to 100 = 10.2 from 60-100
Surely with my extra 50bhp now I won't have any problem with "standard" VXR's but that's the thing with evos/scoobys/vxr/focus st etc....same general market (cheap performance cars) so similar minded owners who can be running ANY level of power!
I'm not 100% convinced on the whole "rolling start" argument going by the above figures but my mate has just bought a VXR as his first present after getting a new job so I am definately going to be taking him up on the offer of a shot
If anything this thread has definately got me interested in the pace of the VXR and similar FWD cars that TBH I never appreciated or seen as an alternative until reading this thread. They may turn out to out-perform the Subaru's etc. but I wouldn't swap my Scoob for one and that's just down to personal preference.
And in any case- I don't "race" or "beat" anybody in any other cars.....if I see somebody with a nice car I respect it.....and if we both want to get a shift on I try to get a "wing man" type thing going where we help each other make progress
.....occasionally it gets taken in the wrong way and the person thinks I'm trying to "race" them but that's not my issue- I just enjoy driving my car and so long as I'm enjoying it I don't mind getting overtaken by anything or anybody! If somebody wants to drive faster than me and say they "beat" me then let them think that.....don't bother me! Lol.
anyway- getting onto the blower to get a shot in a VXR tonight

The pro vxr (it's the tops in a straight line) boys aren't interested in tried and tested figures, mate.

Just read the posts on the vxr forum, jeez those guys are deluded!
It's quite comical that one poster has labeled scooby drivers as chav's! Considering the corsa has got to be the chaviest motor known to man lol. And as for astra's and vectra's just look back to their history, repmobiles spring to mind. We obviously all like a fast car but keep it real boys!!

Why not come to the meet, faster or slower is not what were about, I am an impreza fan so wouldn't mind a look round your beast.
Oh and if it wasn't for my car being Arden Blue I would have stuck 1.8 badge on the back, sleepers are the best type.

we're talking 60-100.

What you bought yourself do tell, it sounds fun.
Oh and my car is a fat one defo, and you've now hurt her feelings.
An Astra vxr tried keeping with me on a run up the *** wales run,Had a little play with it then slowed to let him past,I was surprised how well it went tho.
I got the impression he thought he was going to keep up with my lardy wagon!!
