Just been to COSTCO and had a look at a 3D TV, can't remember which but it was £1500 including VAT, didn't take much notice but of make, model or size but it was AWESOME!
Then I get back here and this thread is up.

makes me laugh all this 3d talk (not on here but in general) There is hardly any genuine hd content out there yet for the uk, yet they are already bringing out 3d which is the next stage. Personally I cannot see it taking off, the average joe public isnt going to want to sit in front of a tv at home with special glasses on.

Panasonic are building it into their whole range over 50". In truth, the panels are no different from any 1080p Full HD screen, it's just the processing which alternates the image between left and right eye, synchronised with the glasses. As the glasses are about £60 a pair, the tech for sync'ing probably £20 at most, and the additional processing soft/firmware virtually free then they may as well. They are still superb TV's for 2D, so the fact they have 3D available for occasional use then anyone in the market for a high end set is gonna get the 3D tech anyway.
I think you'll be waiting a while. Enjoy a quality plasma for a few years then sell.
Poster above is correct. The tech for a good 3D TV makes a great 2D set so it's win\win providing the cost isn't OTT

The Curry's guy assured me that they would be £120 minimum. Funny how I saw them on eBay for 99p
I'm in the same boat - not switching my main CRT TV till OLED is affordable. I have a plasma screen in the kitchen but my CRT still looks better for SD stuff so I don't see the point.
There's some good stuff on AV Forums on how the new 3D TVs work...
1. Tutorial video explaining in simple terms how the technology works.
2. Our visit to Sky to chat with them about their 3D service.
3. Geoff Harrison, a director of photography and stereographer explains how 3D is filmed.

What HD stuff ? I don't have Sky or a Blu-Ray player !! And I've no intentions of getting either anytime soon. Plus there's not exactly loads of free to air HD channels at the moment, so for me personally (and probably millions of others like me) even HD is a con, let alone 3D TV !!

The fact that you don't want to spend £100ish on a Blu Ray player is up to you but that doesn't make it a con.
as i'm a playstation gamer, and games are set to be pumped out in 3d, then i beg to differ.... killzone 2 or 3 in 3d? grid in 3d with you immersed in the track and environment at 200 odd mph... nice!
Had not really considered the gaming market, that's a very good and very cool point. We had a training session on 3d tv a few days ago, general thoughts are that this will be a niche market which will only last a few years
Just been in to the Panasonic shop and had a demo of their 50" Plasma 3D. I have to say, it was very impressive, far more so than I would have thought.
They were showing a live stream from the french Open tennis, and even though it was only standard def (you can't broadcast in 3d & HD), still very good. He then put on a Blu Ray and it was simply stunning.
Although not cheap at £2299 with 3 pairs of glasses, I didn't think it was expensive either for what it was.
he also said that Sky was already broadcasting in 3D, you just need to activate the channel, but he didn't elaborate.
Geezer

They didn't, it was on official Panasonic shop.
I haven't seen any other manufacturer's ones, but I understood most of the Samsung ones were LCD (apart from the whopping 63" one!) and I just don't trust LCD for 3D, even though my 'normal' telly is an LCD, as the refresh rate isn't there yet.
