Funny thing is I have just completed a report on underbody geometry of ground vehicles mainly looking at diffusers. I have also done CFD analysis of a simplified Impreza with a flat floor and slight angled diffuser, after seeing your design I cut out the back of the car up to where the rear diff would be to replicate your design and ran that through CFD.

Im sure that this design will give totally different characteristics to the standard rear bumper but with a little more thought you could obtain greater performance by a simple change to the geometry of your diffuser. I can post the CFD results and explain it in more detail if anyones interested, I have also found out quite abit of the flow around an Impreza body which helps identify the best place for a rear wing and type of wing. Although CFD data should always be taken with a pinch of salt the modern software is fairly good at predicting fluid flow.

i would be very interested to see the cfd results for this aswell gaz

Well its been a while since i updated this lol, iv moved along a bit but she`s still not up and running lol.

First things first i now have the car back at mine, due to a few problems i lost the use of the workshop, so i loaded her up and brought her home.

Iv got a set of wr1 r180 rear hubs and brembo 2 pot calipers fitted now, as id tidied the front 6 pots up by painting them red i also painted the gold brembo rears red.

Iv been doing little bits and pieces when possible as the great british weather sometimes hampers progress, but iv got the body work all fixed properly now, made brackets to support the fmic, the rear bumper to stop it flapping about.
The engine is now virtually fully built up, inlet manifold fitted with bespoke spacers made specially for me by alyn at AS performance, engine loom fitted, having tim from subbus come down to change the cam pullys for me and help me fit engine and the new gear box.

Iv sold the 5 speed helical ppg box and bought a rather nice new gear box

- PPG 1-4 dog kit, straight cut gears. Dog rings in either new or very good condition.
- OE helical 5th gear
- Billet selector forks
- Cusco RS 1.5-way LSD
- Modena centre diff with straight-cut billet drop gears, very rare
- Black powder coated casing which is mint
- Ratios: 3.18 / 1.87 / 1.32 / 0.95 / std

This should save some time when im doing sprints and quarter mile runs

I also bought myself a new set of wheels

Rota fighter drifts in 10x18 et20, now fitted with a set of 265x35x18 toyo R888`s.

As i was using a 10" wheel the showa shocks had to go and had to fit coilovers so i got a set of eibach pro street s for a good price.
Then came the issue of the wheels protruding the arches, only one thing for it

Fit a set of abw rivet on arches.

Only got a few little bits to do now, get the engine and box fitted and buy the syvecs and she will be ready for mapping, im going to get the car finished, mapped and mot`d then get it sprayed, hopefully not to long now.

I'm not sure chap, apparently the gt3040's are a bit hit or miss, I know made my one has previously made good power at low boost, I'm hoping for 550+ on a meth mix and maybe more using race fuel.

Just a few daylight pics to show stance etc, it sits a lot lower on the coilovers than the showers, I'm going to keep it the matt black with carbon wrapped boot lid, roof, bonnet and arch extensions, think it should look awesome.

Hi Ian

I'm pretty sure with spacers will be better, because you will have more clearance/room between your wheels and suspension and you can turn without the problem

Just ask here Maggs,he can help you with this.

Fitted the roll centre adjuster kit and drop links today,

Also made up the turbo outlet pipe, fits perfectly under the inlet manifold and exits at a nice right angle.

Has been a while since iv updated so thought i better get on it

Iv sorted the clearance issues with the 10" wheels, had to cut away alot of the wheel arch, front bumper and skirt and reshape the inner arches slightly only downside to this is my wheel arch hole now looks huge, but the wheels are now clear on lock so its a compromise

Iv test fired the fuel pumps again and sorted out the leaks i had with the useless clamps i was using, function over form now.

And the biggest update of all is the engine and box is now fitted
I had tim farmer of subbus come down monday and fit everything with me, for those of you who dont know/have not heard of tim he is an ex zen performance employee who is a whizz with subarus, as well as being a top bloke he certainly knows his stuff and is very meticulous with it, he will travel to you and work, i couldnt recommend this guy enough.
Anyways as i said the engine and box are all fitted tim has helped me make up my fmic pipework and relocate the power steering etc etc, iv got a few brackets to make up to mount header tank and the pas bottle and a few little bits and bobs to get then tim is coming back down to help fire her up, i cant wait

A few pics of progress so far

Once things are fitted and its been fired up and proven working i will start having a tidy of things in the engine bay, it will then be onto the bodywork side of things for the tidying and the spray job etc, then getting the syvecs and final mapping, there is a light at the end of the tunnel now

Default ITS ALIVE

I had tim farmer and his lad come down today to finish of the engine and get it all up and running.
Id made up all the necessary brackets and sourced the bits and bobs in the last couple of weeks ready for tims return.
Tim fitted all the bits and filled the engine and box with oil and it was ready to fire, we turned the engine over with the crank sensor off and it made good oil pressure in no time at all, we connected up the sensor and it was ready to fire up .
We had a few problems, one and the biggest being the ****e fuel hose id fitted to the swirl pot, the smell of petrol growing ever stronger was found to be spraying from 2 hoses, god only knows how much petrol sprayed out but my rear seats were soaked and we had a massive puddle on the floor, after clearing the spilt fuel and a quick trip to get some proper fuel line we were ready to fire again.
As i currently have an oe ecu fitted and oe 380cc injectors with a rotated set up we had to sort out putting the maf before the turbo which we did, we then checked every thing over and gave it a turn, she fired after a few seconds the second problem we found was it was running very very rich, this was found to be caused by knackerd injector seals, crap, we decided not to run it anymore today with the seals gone incase we caused any serious problems so we packed and tim headed of to return another day.
This is still major progress in my eyes and a huge sense of achievment for me, seeing i have or rather had before i started very limited knowladge on cars and iv done most of the work myself im dead proud of how far iv got .
Any way a few vids of today

Turning it over to get the oil pressure up

Trying to fire

And she fires up and runs, the smoke or steam as it is is from the soaked heat wrap on the headers and down pipe due to the ****e weather weve been having.
