Last clean before she gets transformed RCM style.
Crazy timing guys, just got back from RCM to see how things are going. Progress has been slow due to a mixture of factors, mainly how much the guys are in demand. Anyway update time

Snap-On Mclaren tool chest
bet that set them back a bit, All you need is a spanner and a hammer (now you understand why this is not a DIY build)

Get a thread started under Projects with updates/pics. If you think its already been a long wait then imagined how I felt with 17 months of it! Am sure it will be worth it in the end! Welcome to the 2.35 club!
If your gonna do it, you might as well do it properly.
If a reliable 480bhp cost 20k, then thats the choice you make.
I am very much in the boat of paying the extra for a respectable tuner to do it properly.
At least with RCM you know no corners will be cut, and they wont release the car until its 100%, which i suspect what other tuners dont do, hence you hear about the horror stories.
Although for me personally, i would of also looked at importing a Crafword kit, which i was quoted about $1000 to send it, plus the cost of the kit, comes out around similar monies! (assuming you have the spanner skills to drop it in palce)

i really didnt likr the idea of running with the 2.5 , not sure i would trust an American company, RCM just had a big order from traivs Pastrana,s rally team and i am sure if they could get the best quality products closer to home they would do.
i think the American setup would save me a lot of money, i would be over the moon if my bill was only 20K
Looks ace, I’m already spotting the trick bits that I’m missing
Notice you are keeping the air con, probably a wise move - I wiped mine out, more to keep things tidy than anything else
Was the exedy clutch your choice? - im still not 100% on mine for a weekend car its fine
On the morning trip to work when the engine is cold, straight in to a traffic jam , lumpy idle due to cams , light fly wheel etc and don’t want to give the engine 2 minutes on the drive to warn up slightly because its to noisy = pain in the ar$
They key with mine was mapping, it took a few sessions as the engine loosened up a bit but eventually the idle and drive at low speeds went from bearable to not bad at all, I’m not sure what ecu you are going with but mine is on a simtek which I will try and get updated next year which might improve things a little more
The grey coating on the headers is a really good idea, the white one on mine looked great for a few months, then starts to go black around the slip joints
I’m not sure when the RCM rollers are open but if you fancy it we could try and get together and compare specs \ figures
Ps we need a full spec sheet
