Hi guys just gave the Scooby a quick clean before its trip up to RCM. Finally the time has come; I have been waiting and saving for over a year. :luxhello:

Basic Planned spec

2.35 RCM EJ22 Remanufactured Closed deck block
Solaris ecu
6 speed gearbox.
Rcm flywheel
APS Front Mounted Intercooler
Full RCM exhaust
RCM Modified Oil pump
Cosworth VVT Camshaft kit
RCM Manifold
RCM Oil Catch tank kit
800cc Fuel Injectors
Bosch Motorsport 10bar pump
APS Front Mounted Intercooler
Refurbished Subaru Spec C Inlet Manifold
Hybrid Garret RCM450 Turbo

The plan is to have a 480bhp fast road car. The engine RCM are building is more than capable of running 550 or more but useable power is the key. Back to the waiting game again should be 10 weeks before i get the car back :luxhello:

I have found that when you start modding that it never finishes, enough is never enough. ;)

Just think of it as 20 days (weekend days) and it doesn't seem so bad. :)

That is a nice Hawkeye and I am sure that after it's trip to RCM it will be a really nice car to drive, one thing for sure you and RCM and not doing a 'half-way' job either. :thumb:

frayz 20 April 2010 01:48 AM

Looking forward to seeing it done. Let us know if you need help with cutting the roof vent etc :thumb:

Suberman 20 April 2010 02:18 AM

Great looking car there mate! :thumb: Sounds like it's going to be a very quick road car with that spec! Must have cost you quite a bit? Looking forward to seeing more of it in 10 weeks! :D

most RCM 500bhp + builds have final bills over 50 k when eveything is added up, allthough Olly and crew can do good builds for half that price

This car will be a cracker when its finished but it won't be cheap :)

PS 10 weeks can soon turn in to 6 months but i bet it will be worth the wait ;)

Guv 21 April 2010 02:15 AM

Sorry dude, but I dont get it, 20k- 30k-50k !!! fair dues if you got he spare cash lying around or your doing it for tax purposes....

But I'm sure if you started with a JDM Spec C it would cost half as much and settle with 400 of a standard block with some internal work it would be one hell of a road car.....

I may get slammedfor saying this but I couldn't justify 50k on a WRX or any scooby unless I was doing the time attack or similar, a very decent 2nd hand spec C 17k throw 10k at it I'm sure you would get good figures, enough for the road and any track and for every day use.

Hell i just looked up Litchfield Type 25 are £35k OTR http://www.type-25.co.uk/prices.asp#6 :freak3:

No offence to you mate just what I think.

BIG FUD 21 April 2010 09:09 AM

I agree with you guv .When it comes to having to or wanting to sell it dammm that's when the pain kicks in.As you say just waht i think,Good luck.

F1 CJE UK 21 April 2010 10:19 AM

Fair point guys, each to their own. My plan like many of RCM customers (rich WRX included) is to keep this car for ever its only going to be used as a 2nd car and it will replace the needed to keep buying new fast road cars and have them devalue and waste thousands everyday in fuel. I am sure that my dad has wasted more money buying fast BMW with the devaluation over 3 or 4 cars than this car will cost to build and run over that period.

I looked into buying a spec c as the project car but Pease of mind of knowing what the car has done is more important to me. Anything that’s good about a spec c can be replicated or surpassed. I want a car that’s going to be very reliable and have a real fun factor that’s why I am willing to pay the premium to have it done to the highest level using the best parts available.

Guv 21 April 2010 10:41 AM

Fair enough dude, It will be one hell of cars when its done, good luck:thumb:

rickya 21 April 2010 11:07 AM

Awesome spec & it will be an incredible car! If you'v got the money then enjoy & as you said there's not much better out there than RCM. I would love to get a RCM build.

But I also tend to agree with Guv & Big Fud on this one:
Std Hawkeye Spec C £17k
Exhaust/Intercooler/Clutch/Ancilleries etc £3k
Litchfield new twinscroll full turbo kit £5k
Extra bits & bobs £1k

Total £26k apprx & you can get 460bhp plus, twin scroll power in a 1400kg, pin sharp, Spec C which already comes with the JDM 6 speed box.

F1 CJE UK 21 April 2010 11:23 AM

i am sure if i could have bought a spec c from new when i bought the wrx (age 22) then i am 100% with you. the only way to keep the car i have looked after and gain more power is to go for a full build. i did look at spec c jdm but didnt like any of them, they had all been modded etc etc.

rickya 21 April 2010 11:26 AM

Fair play, there's nothing like owning & keeping a brand new car IMO.

Tomwrx 21 April 2010 12:08 PM

thats stunning just now

u will be like a kid a crimbo when u get it back

WRX_Rich 21 April 2010 03:32 PM

there is more than a few owners out there who have spent 20k plus on thier cars only to have nothing but problems \ major failures - scoobynet is full of these horror stories, i for one am sure that a 500 bhp capable car can not be done on the cheap

like everything in life you pay your money and take your chances but I am sure this car will be perfect in everyway and the owner will get just what he asked for :)
