I seriously doubt the iPad will be Orange only, at least I hope not. I'm hoping that Apple once again change the market and offer a European data plan of sorts, only Apple could facilitate this change, no one else is big enough.

The 3GS is still the phone that others try to compare to, take a look at the reviews, are the new HTC phones compared to the old ones? No, they're compared to the 3GS, a year old phone that still kicks butt.
I'm not disagreeing, but i have heard different.

Data atm is still pricey when you go abroad. I don't think any network wants to make the first step as they would make less money out of it even if snapping up extra customers. I too agree that if apple set up a deal with one of the networks the rest would follow suit. Just a case of who would do it. I think the iPad maybe exclusive first, like the iPhone was.

The HTC Incredible isn't even out yet but it has already been superceeded by the HTC EVO 4g which looks like a cracking phone.

Why is HTC giving us an improved new model every few months a bad thing? Other than the stock answer that they are not Apple hence are no good of course.

Well I got the actual figures wrong. 2010 sales figures:

1st = Nokia = 52%
2nd = SE = 13%
3rd = Samsung = 9.5%
.
.
10th = HTC = 0.21%
.
.
13th = Apple = 0.01%

Oh dear, why do you insist on asking such dumb questions

lol, Clearly its HTC's repeated attempts to get within 10 paces of Apple, all of which are poor attempts and fail in monumental ways. Maybe if they were to rename themselves after a fruit, they might stand half a chance to be great.

Also, annoyed by the delayed 2.1 hero update, i cant see why it is taking so long when i could have used the leaked firmware myself months ago, and everybody who has used it seams to think its perfect.

I suspect HTC need to invest a bit more in the after sales section of its business, they make good products IMHO but they are not as slick as Apple when it comes to the aftersales bull/ermm/waffle

Still cant decide what to do... stick with my trusty (but slightly sick) Nokia for a bit longer or just take the plunge on the Desire.... or see what comes out in the next couple of months...

HTC make lots of different phones all aimed at different markets, I don't think anyone is trying to truely make an iPhone beater as the iPhone only attracts one Market and we know what that is

Agreed mate, most manufacturers realise choice is key. Rather than the take it or leave it attitude of some others. Nothing wrong with being able to choose the one that suits you best. Personally I like the idea I can buy an Android phone with a physical keyboard.

lol @ the Kumquat Desire. Tempted to get a Desire now its called that.

I remember my first crush, god she turned out to be a right chav!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not in the slightest an antifanboy, not do i spread the great word of antifanboy-ism, in fact i love apple products i just don't think the iPhone is the best phone for me, nor do i think its the best phone on the market. It just strikes me as very unusual that some people appear to live by the apple brand like their life depends on it.

The previous posts about the Evo 4G. I wouldn't expect that till the very end of this year at the earliest. It is the next step from 3.5G obviously, but i don't think our UK networks are set up for it yet.

I am curious to know if the Next iPhone will be a 4G capable phone, or whether they will release a 4G, and then a 4GS to support the higher speed network...?

Serious question.

Why do you feel the need to try and belittle anyone that has a different opinion to your myopic point of view regarding Apple products. Were you bullied at school or something?

I bet you wont get a serious answer. Or at least not one that does not tell you about you being an anti-fanboi fanatic, or telling you about your short fallings. I gave up trying to have a serious discussion about it a long time ago.

Like 18 says, its not for everyone.

PS I was bullied at school. Primary and secondary lol. Single parent, fat, asthmatic, poor kid.

Yes, me too as it happens. I only mention it as some people who get bullied seem to react one way and others another such as sitting behind a keyboard writing belittling comments on an Internet forum

You're kidding right? I say I like an Apple product and you and the Antifanboy gang are on me like a pack of dogs, then you get wound up when instead of backing down I offer you a lemon to suck on. Why can't I enjoy my purchases? Why can't I let others know how well they work. I certainly wasn't bullied at school but can imagine it to be very similar to the behavior I experience when I champion an Apple product. Take note that I do it alone where you work as a team.

I doubt it, but it's possible. I have a sneaky feeling we won't be seeing a new iPhone for a while, nothing has moved the game forward enough yet, seriously, other than big numbers where's the innovation? The Puma phone has done more than HTC and Android and that's saying something.

Android is great, if you split me in half you'll find pips and one of those will have a Google search bar installed. But getting the software, hardware and other peoples environments to work together is a challenge too far for a search and advertising company. If there was no iPhone I'd have a Nexus One in my pocket right now, but it just wouldn't be as good.

I think i agree with you Jack - I've been doing some research into the nexus One too and, if you concentrate on the user experience, the iphone still has it. I am trying to work out a way not to spend the initial £270 on a 32gb iphone, but there are too many iphone pros to ignore.

i was quite excited by the prospect of the google phone/htc desire/legend, but you can't ignore the superiority of apple os and the app store.

besides, i have 3 macs. if you have neither phone, no macs and less money, i'd go for a nexus one i think.

Work as a team? What a load of tosh. You just spout opinion as if it were fact and then shout down anyone who disagrees with you by trying to belittle them.

When you get it back from someone like me you claim some 'antifanboy' conspiracy and then of course you resort to personal insults all the while hypocritically criticisng others for doing the same.

Your behaviour is really quite odd.

There you go again. Jack, seriously if you want an attack you can have one, but so far I have just given as good as I have got. If you can't see that then in all seriousness you need to get some help.

Oh and by the way the reason you think there is a team of 'antifanboys' (or whatever other stupid marketing type expression you are labelling it this week) is that I am not the only one who thinks like this.

When you are the only one yelling against against a voice of many maybe it is you who have the problem eh?

Head sore yet?

I would love to say lets just agree that the iPhone is a great device, but its not for everyone. However I am sure that would just attract some form of belittling comment about financial situation, or physical/mental capabilities.

Said one antifanboy to another. Team AntiFanboy ROCK !

Right, off to play with some apps on my Android and RIM phones

Right you miserable lot, lets try and settle this once and for all and maybe, just maybe, you will stop all this petty arguing

Lets assume you can categorise all mobile phone users/buyers into 4 camps.

1. Business users - these are typically people who work for a large (ish) company and get a mobile as part of their work/package. They also tend to have a personal mobile of their choosing which may/not be allocated as a work replacement instead as long as it follows the IT/Mobile guidelines
Dont worry about the usage as it is paid for

2. Contract users - typically been a contract user for many years,always get a subsidised handset if they can, like the latest handsets, have tried various carriers over the years.Max out the usage

3. PAYG users - usually light/medium usage, dont want or cant afford big lengthy contracts, always go for the best deal in terms of minutes and texts, like the idea of nice new handsets but dont want to pay the upfront price.

4. Snazy

Now amongst those categories, most of you will fit with a few exceptions and crossover.

So when does it become an issue of which is best ?? Your buying decision typically comes to do which kind of buyer you and not always about the hardware, the same goes for computers. yeah sure, if we all had a go with a mac, maybe we would all plumb for them instead, but we dont because of the cost, experience, corporate policy etc.

So i dont get the whole argument really on here.

You can apply this same buying pattern to just about anything be it TV's or trainers. I buy K-Swiss trainers because I like the name , they fit well, are not too expensive and look good.
Someone else would spend £120-150 on some Nike ones because they love the brand and have to have the best. His trainers are, in my eyes, not any better than mine (unless I favoured Dunlop Green Flash ), yet I wouldn't start a massive argument with him because he chose those.

The android phones look fab and if they did what I wanted and for the right price, then cool. Would have one in a flash. However I dont like the interface, as a mac user I am familiar with the OS and interface and for me the iPhone just works. But I would not be buying one if I had to shell out £800

Anyway, just my thoughts, carry on

I agree with everything you say Swiss, I can't work out why some people just have to join a thread in order to start an argument, why do they care so much about me liking a particular phone? If they like another then why not tell us about it or keep quiet. If they don't like my opinion then take it for what it is and move on. I know it's far easier to moan than praise and maybe thats it, they're not used to hearing positive words and don't know how to react.

Fair points though and I agree. I maintain, there is a wide market for a wide range of consumers. I for one will shurrup now (again lol)

Each to their own. Please carry on the praise.
