I don't have anything against FORD, VAUXHALL, NISSAN ETC ETC ETC. Like in Carlisle last week I saw an RS4 for £30k. Can't remember the Reg.

My mate bought an M3 02 reg for £10k with 69K on clock. Cracking car. Swap mine any day fot it!
There are lots of considerations when buying a car, running costs, family, warranty etc.

Yes you can get an RS4 or older M3 for £35k but it will cost a BOMB to run compared to an RS and it will have higher miles, no warranty etc.

DB9 is lovely, but for someone with a child/children, again it's useless.

A Ford is easy to run and maintain and won't cost much for servicing, tyres, brakes etc, unlik even modest cars like an Evo.

If that happens, just peel the film off, you still end up with a black RS which can't be bought.

I think this new RS500 looks great, loving the seats etc although I also believe RS350 would have been a better name.

As for those of you with rose tinted specs harking back to the original Sierra RS500, they are old cars and would be murdered by a new Focus RS.

So they are £7k more than the normal RS?

£2200 (fitted) for the mountune upgrade

So, an extra £4800 for matt black paint and a numbered plaque?

painted calipers, different interior, black wheels.

Black paint is a £400 option @ fords, along with a vinyl wrap thats 2k outta the way, Not sure where the 7k comes, just priced an UG on fords website to the same spec, Lux 1 with bluetooth, £29,798.00 only 5k more.

£2200 mountune, 2k wrap, interior trim changes, black wheels extra badges (ok that silly really) and painted calipers, its not far off.

all that money and its still slower than a 22k cupra k1.

And before people call me crazy, asked the stage 3 focus RS owners that were down lakeside on sunday. Love the RS, but this is a gimmick imo, a bit like the new LCR. Plus another 5k and you could be sitting in a low mileage TTRS, and once mapped etc its porsche 997 turbo quick.

Wow - didn't know you could get 480bhp from an Audi TTRS with a remap.

mapped etc, 460-480hp is the limit of that turbo, for more you will then have to go bigger.

At 420hp the TTRS has similiar in gear acceleration to that of the 997 turbo. Dont forget that the TTRS is a smaller and lighter car also.

EFA

Yes you can make many cheapish cars go faster than many expensive ones. In a straight line. With no corners, imperfections, water or anything else that you get on real roads.

Fail. TTRSs are nudging £43k not £35k and extremely lack-lustre in the handling department too.

If you want a straight line ego massager just get an old seat and remap it...

So for an extra £7k over the standard car, you get 45bhp, black paint and a plaque stating you're 1 of 500 people with more money than sense. Nice.

At least VW give you AWD on the overpriced Golf R.

PS.
Again Ford keep banging on about how good it is on track (It doesn't need AWD) but how many people only drive their RS on a track?

If that was awd...I will be first in the queue !!

Read somewhere that ford will do a ballet on who gets the cars, as they think the demand will be huge !!!

Did you not read my post properly. I have seen a TTRS up on the audi used car site for 39k.

35k plus 5k is 40k. That is low mileage TTRS money.

Lacklustre in the handling apartment? Yes it might want to push wide, but cross country it will keep up with scoobies, evos, r8's etc.

A few mods will soon get rid of the inbuilt understeer anyway.
