Yawn yawn....same old same old...

Decals are chavvy, DV's are chavvy, GT wings are chavvy, Bodykits are chavvy, blah blah blah change the record....

Subaru's are fantastic cars...hence their popularity and numerous aftermarket 'customising' parts. See that word? "customise"...each to their own. Due to their popularity there are a lot out there (market liquidity...in this sense anyway) so the prices drop. Twin this with the fact of performance to cost, I can see why most youngsters want one...and can afford one! They get 6k together, spend 2k on the car and the 4k for a year’s insurance...job done.

To discuss street racing...again that's each to your own. When you get older, you don't so much loose the ***** you had when you were younger, you have a greater understanding of the risks and consequences (plus you get better and recognizing them as well!). When I was younger I can openly admit...I was a right little *******. I'd fly down the hardsholder if that meant me getting past you...now I wouldn't even dream of doing so. I also was a regular at the old last minute street races...first time by accident..there I was on my way home late one morning in my little 1.2 Corsa SXi when I decided to take a shortcut through an industrial estate. Turned the corner and there were around 100 of the craziest cars I’d ever seen. Skylines, Subaru's, EVO 6's, those mad little 4WD Nissan GTIR's, Cossie's the lot. There I am driving through all these parked cars when I get flagged down:

"Are you racing or normal traffic?" I was asked.
"You taking the pi$$?" I replied.

But I had to pull over and watch. It was there watching these awesome machines tearing down the makeshift 1/4 mile, not giving a to$$ for the law, that made me decide that I would always have something a little bit crazy in my garage, regardless of age!

So I own a classic, a rather special one that no doubt some might call chavvy. However if you’re trying to say the odd race off the lights regardless of make is chavvy...then you are mistaken. It's your opinion and that's fine...but don't force your opinions on others. If then you want to discuss legal and illegal...that's another conversation completely.

Be Well

Having a bit of fun is one thing Rob. However this thread is entitled "Street Racing".

Further to previous posts:

Two idiots go down for 5 years for a street race

Just to reiterate, only one of that pair actually killed the driver of the third car. Yet both were convicted of causing death by dangerous driving and both got the same jail sentence, and the judge's summing up made clear his view that the involvement of both was a direct contributor to the crash.

The bottom line here seems to be that, just like the other example quoted further up the thread, even if you are in control and don't hit anything or anyone, if the individual you're racing does something silly/dangerous, you're going to cop it just as bad as if you'd done it yourself. Food for thought.

What is it then when everyone meets up to have a convoy over to a national meet somewhere but they take the scenic route. They dont go that way for the scenary!

I must admit that I have had a play late at night, but during the daytime I never go over 70, even on the motorway.

For me I prefere to have the window down and just cruise along.
