After much waiting i have finally found and had installed a seat i like the look of. I eventually decided upon a Corbeau Pro Series made from carbon fibre. Its FIA approved until 2014 as well but i doubt i will be making use of that. Anyway, here are the first pictures:
I'm over the moon with it, its very comfy and supportive and, certainly in my opinion, looks the dogs danglies lol

I have managed to keep all the rear seat assembly in my type r yes. there are no diagonal bars and it is a tight fit but it does allow you to retain the whole interior apart from the sun visors and passenger high hand hold thing

errr, no. I assume you know those pictures were taken the day i got the car back and the parts of the cage that could be reached by flailing body parts have since been covered with padding?
(as you can see from my reply sarcasm doesn't do anyone any favours so maybe less of a derogatory tone whilst working with assumptions could be in order? )

but his seat and harness will plus im sure if you crash and your head hits the window or roof in a car with no cage it will do the same damage
as long as you have good harness and seats with good fixing points etc.. there should be no problems

The seat should be fixed so that once strapped in your head can not get anywhere near the cage........having the harness fitted properly and adjusted correctly are most important.
The roll cage padding will help with getting in and out of car especially if you have crash helmet on...
However i still think that rear seat passengers and roll cages designed to allow seating are a bad idea.

Silly question alert in advance so dont flame me !!
Can you run harnesses without having a rollcage? After a few recent track sessions I'm thinking that some buckt seats and harnesses are a must for track days, but I'm not planning on going the full stripped out rollcage route, so want to keep the rear seats and interior in for normal use etc
Thanks
Iain

The eyebolts required for the harnesses are the same thread as the seatbelt fixing points, so what you need to do is to remove rear seats, replace the lower rear seatbelt bolt with an eyebolt, also the rear buckle locating bolt with an eyebolt. Then your shoulder straps fit to these. Then your lower seatbelt bolt and the extra bolt on your left hand seat rail take the eyebolts for your lap belts.
Once I've finished my sprint / trackday I remove the harness, refit the rear seats and its back to as you were.
Oh and by the way I decided on budget seats - Sparco Sprint 5's but the design of the seat was uncomfortable with my driving position, so kept one for the passenger side and exchanged the other for the Sparco Pro 2000 which was double the price at £300. They both weigh 9.5 kg

I do this - my car is still a daily driver, takes the kids to school etc.

If you use a harness bar, you won't need to remove anything from the rear. You'll be able to run harnesses at all times, and still have full access to the back seats for passengers.
