The pictures of the VF37 splitpin posted the electric pencil code on turbo is not easy to read .This what i looked for ages ago when i bought the 05 Jdm STI i have and look underneath the car and you will see a twin uppipe going to the turbo ie feeding the twin scroll turbo. You can't realy see it from above .The sump is a different shape for the equal length headers .The downpipe has a different flange shape think its down to shape of acutator butterfly and standard catted downpipe is open neck

you might be right.... but I still can't see how, for example both car producing around 340bhp and one can't keep up with another

It might be a more drivable car on the road but I would really like to see how much its acutally faster in figure wise to like to 60 or 100..

If both have 340bhp then the lighter and shorter ratio's (plus more torque) on the spec c will leave you, I had a blast with a 350bhp bugeye sti and he was only just keeping up with (my then) 316bhp Spec C, but from say 20mph in 4th gear the JDM will just be gone, the in gear torque and power distribution is far better than the single scroll cars

In addition to what Tony said; If two different examples of the same car produce the same amount of peak horsepower, but one of them has a significantly higher peak torque output as well as developing it a couple of thousand rpm lower in the rev range, that second car will be quicker both subjectively and against the clock. It's simply down to the width of the power band, or "the area under the curve".

In addition, the increased efficiency of the twin scroll system means that the turbo repressurises the engine quicker both from a standstill and after each lift of the throttle. As a result, both off the line and after each gearchange, the twin scroll car ekes out a little more of an advantage.
