UPDATE - MEETING POINTS AND CONVOY ROUTE

Ok people, here is the plan:

As proceedings at Prodrive (OX16 3ER) are due to kick-off at 10am I propose we aim to LEAVE our adopted home of Stechford Retail Park (B33 9AN) at 8:30am on Sunday 9th May.

The route will take us down the Coventry Road (A45), M42, Warwick Road, Warwick Bypass, and the M40.

This will take us down some jolly nice roads, and is in fact the quickest and most direct route making it convoy-friendly


43.2 mi – about 1 hour 4 mins

Start at Birmingham, West Midlands B33 9AN

1. Head northwest on Flaxley Pkwy toward Flaxley Rd 0.1 mi
2. Slight left at Iron Ln 194 ft
3. Take the 1st left to stay on Iron Ln 105 ft
4. Continue onto A4040/Station Rd
Continue to follow A4040
Go through 1 roundabout 1.9 mi
5. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Coventry Rd 0.1 mi
6. Take the ramp onto A45/Coventry Rd 4.5 mi
7. Take the ramp to M42/M6/M1/M40/M5 0.1 mi
8. At the roundabout, take the 5th exit onto the M42 ramp to M5/London/Solihull/Warwick/M40 0.6 mi
9. Merge onto M42 2.9 mi
10. At junction 5, take the A41 exit to Solihull 0.2 mi
11. Slight left at A4141/Warwick Rd
Continue to follow A4141
Go through 1 roundabout 7.0 mi
12. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto A4177/Birmingham Rd
Go through 1 roundabout 4.2 mi
13. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A46 ramp to M40/Leamington/Stratford/Banbury/Birmingham 0.3 mi
14. Merge onto A46 1.9 mi
15. At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the M40 ramp to London/Banbury/Leamington 0.4 mi
16. Merge onto M40 18.0 mi
17. At junction 11, take the A422 exit to A361 0.3 mi
18. At the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto A422 heading to Banbury/A361 0.4 mi
19. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Daventry Rd 0.1 mi
20. Slight right at Wildmere Rd 0.2 mi
21. Take the 1st left to stay on Wildmere Rd
Destination will be on the right 203 ft

Arrive at Banbury OX16 3ER



Could I please ask that any of the Warwick lads that are coming along could advise on a possible meet point along the route (perhaps a "rolling" meet up would be best, i.e joining the convoy as we go past) as I'm not too familiar with any space/car parks in the area we could use.

Just a quick question please,will the convoy be stopping at the warwick services?because if you are planning a rolling covoy how will the people at the services know when you are coming past?

Hum, this is a bit of a conundrum isnt it, personally i am in favour of having some kind of rocket launcher fitted to my roof, as we get near to you we could fire it high into the sky where it would explode into a cascaade of wonderfully beautiful colours, spelling out the letters "WMI" so that you would all be aware of our impending arrival.............er or i guess we could just phone you when we are there! Personally i love the rocket idea, but its up to you guys!

 

On the convoy route, they get onto the A46 at Warwick. Before the M40 there is a BP petrol station with a cafe on the A46(all right by the roadside). I`m joining on there. I can have a coffee and record you all on my mobile as you drive by

Thats a fair point. If the cafe car park is full of "whitevanman"(they do only tend to work on Sunday morning) then I will try the lay-by a few hundred yards further down towards the M40. Failing that, I will park up on the bridge by the Gaydon junction. Watch them drive past under the bridge and then "play catch up".

Just to update the convoy details, I think it would be best/fair to meet up with anyone from Warwick and surrounding areas at the M40 Warwick Southbound Services between Junction 12 and 13. This is approximately 1/3 of the way down the stretch of the M40 we'll be travelling.

My (Google's) estimated time of arrival at M40 Warwick Services should be around 9:15 am, so be ready Warwick guys. We may as well stop for a few mins to re-group and chat sh*t anyway.

And Paul, I'll make sure the convoy does a go-slow through Chadwick End for your guys to join in from The Orange Tree - or anyone else who wishes to do so!

Well I've had a long day so I'm off to bed and will be cleaning the Scooby in the morning - ta!

i might not be able to make it now having a few issues with a sticky calliper on the rear dont want to drive too far my disk will be glowing, but ill try sort it tomorrow as i dont want to miss this really, its going to be a great day by the sounds of it. I dont have any stickers either yet.

 

Unlucky mate, had a similar problem with my front caliepr a few weeks ago, but a small block of wood, a g-clamp and plenty of spray grease got her working again Hope you get it sorted and can make it!
