if you need anything or need a lift to fetch anything pal gimme a shout
and they won't be out of bed just yet and even when they do get out of bed this will apply to them,
Air is pumped into the cylinder with all valves closed. You can then try and detect where air is "leaking" from, to possibly see why your compression is down.
I had low compression on 2 cylinders. A leakdown test found that air was escaping through the exhaust valves.(you stick your ear into the end of the exhaust and listen).

probably best if I get a second opinion anyway before I start spending thousands... but... either way it will cost me a fortune in labour to fix whatever it may be, so while im there I may as well do everything!
ahh i see! I did drop it on pole yesterday while they were busy but this wasnt something I had been advised to do

MORNING ALL
lagamorph you wasnt advised a leak down test as it isnt a isolated drop in compression its a drop on all cylinders so as advised it could be natural wear and a fairly easy and cheap fix or it could have had work prevously to the engine and not built to the correct compression ratio...we are pretty much flat out at the moment as you seen we can do a leak down test but you arent looking at bent valves etc here wand by all means a second opintion is all ways good but unfortunatly you seen the guage your self mate and they was all tried a few times just to show its consistant..
i do feel for you mate but its still working now it might not be making the power you expected but it sounds healthy pulls very nice on the road so why not keep running it as it could have been like this for some time save up your money as you go to do a nice build into a separate block and when its a short motor pull yours whip your heads off and get them checked and pop on and away you go mate

eh? am I missing the joke to the punch line or something?
when do you get yours back mate?
I'd never heard of a leak down test before thats all. Besides I was thinking if I had the test done again it would have magically fixed itself
.
I am going to drive it to death while im saving for a new build so the next time you will prob see me I will be crying like a girl because I broke my car and want it fixing yesterday

when do you get yours back mate?
