I love my simtek, Normal idle is better than the standard ecu, AntiLag is fun when you want some pop's and bangs when you want attention. Having maps on a switch is nice and easy change too. IF its mapped properly it doesn't just pop and bang but totally changes how the car drives when on anti lag, mine is totally different.

Hey Ad, Unless someone offers me what i want its staying and going into storage, buying a daily hack just after christmas and going to use the year or so its off the road to turn it into a track car Already keeping my eye on a few bits to sort out all the handling etc and get it all done with a new engine build
My gripe with Simtek is the lack of knock control.. you're hardly going to notice your engine light flashing away to say there's det when you're slamming through the gears!
Hope I didnt upset you Mark. If I did, Im sorry and I certainly didnt mean too. I just wanted Terry to be aware of the "potential" problems that "might" happen. It was just one of my Victor Meldrew moments, you get them when your my age. Im now switching to mode as its christmas....

I have a simtek on my classic and this is something I worry about. Surely there's a way to get some sort of audible warning connected to it??

An alternative is to get a proper knock link.
However, the standard ECU actually pulls timing if it hears det, which can help save your engine. It's no good having something flash or beep at you when there's det as it may be too late.
If Syvvecs wasn't so expensive that would be my choice. However I would see no benefit of an aftermarket ECU right now.. other than to eliminate the MAF.
