The scoobyecu is only suited to 380 injectors but should be ok with the other mods you mentioned, but to get the most outta all those mods Inc the 440s you will better off getting the esl

290bhp-300bhp if the car is fit. My reply earlier was lost somehow, but as has now been stated: the larger injectors wont work properly, but everything else should. A ScoobyECU assumes a de-cat and the rest (except from the HKS manifold, which Im not familiar with) adds safety.

If youre uncertain: ask Scott.

Hi,
The above is an original scoobyecu that was put together, trialed and sold by Paul Blamire (now of Zen), Dave Wallis and myself.

I can tell from the image that this is not one that I supplied as it uses the SST devices, which I did not use. I alwayed used UV erasable EPROM devices, the SST are EEPROM.

I'm not sure if scoobyclinic ever officially put maps on these but I do think Pat Hepbourne did a few in the early days.

It is re-mappable buy re-blowing another image onto the chips, but the technology is quite old so alot of mappers will shy away and prefer to use the ESL Generation 2 board or a aftermarket ECU.

I have now stopped trading Polar Performance as a part time business due to full time job promotion, family commitments and general lowering of enthusiasm.
Website is due to go offline start of April.

280-290BHP on a WRX and 305BHP on STi where the rule of thumb numbers on the stock 380's
You cannot drop in 440's without a remap. You will actually loose power if you do as it will run too rich.

By the time youre done the ESL kit will cost almost as much a an A'PEXi PowerFC ECU used to cost!

Remember too that the ESL board would have needed mapping to suit your own car (the very point of a live-mappable solution over a generic solution) and thisd have cost you a further £250-ish. This would have been necessary as the existing settings might have been so unsuitable for your car as to have killed it. The beauty of a generic ScoobyECU is that theyll give you a still-substantial improvement, whilst suiting all cars.

Scott Taylor (Scott T. here) will be able to tell you exactly what is what.

Simon
The pictured board is not an ESL daughterboard.

Alot of misinformation in the above post:

Scott is a friend but had no hand in the development of ESL.

The comparison with Apexi seems uninformed, the ESL board is 295 +VAT, a new Apexi PFC (if you can find one), will be about 800, and you wont have 3D boost control, knock control, a choice of MAF based or MAFless running, Diagnostic codes, etc etc.

In short, the Apexi is significantly more expensive and significantly less capable.

I see that the prices of A'PEXi ECUs have risen now that theyre getting harder to find, but your products will cost approximately 2/3rds of what a PowerFC will cost, after you have paid to have it mapped.

With regards to understanding the product - if you cast your mind back you will remember that I have recommended your kit to scores of people.

I recently bought a 99 Apexi for an Sti5. I cost me over £700 by the time it had landed and paid duty etc, and the pound has weakened further since. Then you still have to pay to have it mapped. The ESL board is 295+VAT, so actually less than half the price of the Apexi.

Even if the Apexi was the same price as ESL it would represent worse value as you are not going to have 3D boost control, choice of MAF or MAFLess running, knock control and diagnostic control codes that you do with the live-mappable ESL board. We also have switchable maps, launch control and antilag algorithms working in beta on test cars.

Thank you for recommending the product, and I might have misunderstood your statement, but in comparison to an Apexi it seems like an absolute no-brainer to me.
