hi just took a kkk k26 turbo off and put on a tdo5 witch was working fine on my mates car it doesnt seem to be holding bosst and im only reaching 6 psi any help would be appreciated might be a silly question but would i need the ecu off the car that the turbo came from as i only hace a u8 ecu thanks ant

 

yes you will need the ecu to match the turbo or a re map to run it,.

 

A u8 ecu is off a 93 import i think so should work with the td05. are you sure you plumbed all the pipework back properly.
would help if you said what year yours is?

 

whatever ecu he has was mapped to the kkthingy he took off so it wont run the td05, if he swaps the ecu he will also need to make sure the injectors ect are the same as the map on the ecu,.

 

it is a l reg the car that the tdo5 came off of had a 7d ecu thanks

 

You can't just go swapping turbo's without having the car setup to accept it. Fueling could be all over the place.

your car needs to be the same spec as the car the td05 came off for the ecu to work or as already explained your fueling will be all over and that means kaboom in most cases,.

The car needs to go to a specialist mate, put on a dyno and checked over by someone in the know.

 

You will blow the engine up if you dont get the car mapped for the new turbo mate.

 

What ecu is in it and was it mapped to the other non standard one?

 

my ecu thats in at the minit is a u8 and think it must have been maped to run the k26 turbo. i have got the ecu that was runing the td05. cheers.
