We all live and learn Steve don't beat yourself up. I could say if only about things I've done many times, but then I could also not have done a lot of things I have done which I'm quite pleased about. Like this year alone throw away £1k on failed business venture, and lose rather more than a few £k since starting out on the markets with the hope of the FTSE hitting 7000 and now it languising at 4750 or whatever. I'm sure your system sounds very nice and you should be proud of that!

Sorry, rather wiffly waffly pseudo-philosophical today, but the news items and a rather excessively touchy-feely 2 day course on Dr-patient communication (VERY contrived I couldn't stop guffawing at some of it - so artificial and cringe worthy) have softened up my usually harder exterior.

Hmm a few £k on the markets.. join the club... - once lost £10k in a day.....what you dont want to do is continue buying as it falls to dilute the cost and mitigate the gains (I meant loss.....)- it does not work when the market is in free fall!

IG Index is a drug....

Talking

You are right Steve. I have only managed to talk myself so far into putting around a quarter of what I had planned to put into the market this year. And I'm only talking plain and simple index trackers - maybe I should have gone IG Index on the FTSE falling! I am not going to sell and take a loss. I believed all the stuff about pound cost averaging, and did try buying more as it slipped. The last time I bought was when it dipped below 5500 for the first time, and thought I'd cut some of my losses. I'm just gonna hang on in and not sell or buy until I recoup earlier losses. Maybe I'll miss the upswing, but at least at the moment I have it sitting against the mortgage effectively making +6ish% rather than -[whatever horrendous double figure number I can come up with] - don't want to work it out. Spending the money on Scooby toys at present - much more fulfilling - at least in the short term.

Regards,
John

Hmmm I think I'm gonna leave alone for a while - but my friends in the Merchant bank community keep saying that now is an ideal opportunity to take up some options.....

You look at the Likes of some of the Telecom stocks like Vodafone - and you think is it really gonna fall much more - however... I probably thought the same when it was 50p higher! (you can obviously benefit on the less well known movers - but I like to bet on companies that are well known..)

I used to put lots of money into shares... now I buy much smaller amounts so that I can place further bets if its goign aagainst me but it all depends on the sort of risk you want to take I guess...

Borrowing money to finance transcations - which is what I do is the riskiest thing to do - but then you'd never bet at all if you did'nt think you were gonna make something

At least I realised the potential bens of Indexing over share buying - as long as they are movign the right way!!!

Sorry everyone for going 'off thread'

Steve

Disclaimer... In no way am I offering financial advice of any kind.. I am not stating that you should invest in any companies mentioned - it is more of an illustrative point. You should seek the opinion of a qualified financial advisor who can assess you attitude towards risk and reward and advise you accordingly!

Jeez those Financial Planning Certificate exams were so dull......

I'm looking for advice from anyone who has fitted the 605cs tweeters in a MY97.

Here are the two locations I can think of, see the fellow dots:-

Cool

Rob,

I did mine earlier this week (although on a MY00). I did mine at the top yellow spot.

There is enough room on there for them to fit, with a bit of play to be able to angle them how you want. Nice central position as well.

Hmm? It sounds enviably easy for the MY00!

Anybody have a close-up picture of a MY99 or MY00 with tweeter kit? Please, snap away on those cars!

I've searched the bbs and it appears there may be an official tweeter fitting kit for earlier 97 or earlier cars.

I am torn because the Infinity ball and socket fitment would allow great axial alignment, but that only has a chance of being used next to the standard grills (lower dot).

I don't want to put them there as they may be a visible sign of "uprated stereo fitted", which I try to avoid these days. Hopefully putting them quite far forward will make them discrete and almost hidden by the dash.

I think the lower positioning will be better for audio phase quality and I'll be able to fine-tune the axial diraction of the tweeters.

Past experience is that this is probably more important than the higher front stereo imaging from higher mounted tweeters.

I'd only want to use the behind the mirror position, if it looked discrete and standard.

Anyone have experience of component tweeter fitment onto a 97 or earlier car?

thanks and regards,
Rob.

Wink

I recently bought a set of infinity 605CS speakers. The mid range speakers went where the standard front ones were, and the tweeters went behind the grill where the OEM tweeters would go. I set the cross-over up on high, and you can hear them fine. I did angle them back slightly towards the driver and passenger seat position.

I didn't want any visible signs of a system upgrade.

I'm well impressed, but will need to buy a amplifier, to appreciate them properly.

Rob,

Wife is out in the car at the moment, so I can in a little while if needed.

On my MY00 the tweeter grills are just infront the door handles on the interior. If you remove the door handle surround you will be able to mark the position on the door panel.
