The next iPhone
I would like an improved GPS chip to be honest, and that's about it. Anything else would be an added bonus.
I can't think of many times I'm using my iPhone and think "I wish it did such and such" as it pretty much does everything I want, and more, brilliantly. That is for me, obviously, not saying it suits everyone.
The one thing that could improve it for me is the GPS chip though. I have tried using it for mapping trails on runs and bike rides etc, but it's not accurate enough to be used properly - i.e. to track the exact distance and use it to calculate times/splits etc.
I paid 40 quid for my 3G iPhone 18 months ago (got 60 quid back through quidco), I am now on the O2 iPhone sim only contract of 1200 texts, 500 minutes and unlimited data for a rolling monthly 20 pounds. As far as I'm concerned, it suits me perfectly and for what I'm getting, 20 pounds a month is fine.
If the new iPhone is a decent upgrade I'll do that in the summer, but will be more than happy to stay with my current one and only pay 20 pounds a month.

Well i've read the link Jack and it seems to be a phone ,there are loads of phones on the market and this seems to be no different from the numerous other iphone threads .Now don't get me wrong it looks very nice and i'm sure many people will get suckered into spending £££s to have this flash looking piece of plastic in their pocket .

As for the Computer Section I didnt realise you represented we .
>After we've spent a quarter of a million £s on developing a platform, I cant see us switching to the iPhone.
Nor I, one for work and one for home is, in most cases, best. No doubt you're very well protected from the bad guys, quite restricted, more controlled than you could be on the iPhone maybe. Is that the monthly, quarterly or yearly budget?
Have you unlocked your phone? I take it it's on O2? If not Unlock my iPhone - iPhone this doubles it's resale value. You're in the fortunate position of being able to fund your next upgrade.
I guess with different people with different abilities the figures could go many ways, but its an impressive rate. What were the figures taken from, how many test subjects.
I know for a fact for example that I can type faster on my berry than 50% of the people I work with can type on a full QWERTY, but that said, im faster on a full QWERTY and so on... If that makes sense. I bet you can beat most of them on the iPhone too

Still time for me to bite.

Well I agree with whoever said that maybe they can get it to work well as a phone. Nokia 6300 - full signal strength at work and at home, Apple iPhone - half strength at work and drifts in and out of signal at home.
Other person talking to you on the phone is too quiet and much quieter than the Nokia even with the volume truned right up.
Battery life is woeful
And it will not give me SMS delivery reports.
Anyone want to buy it cheap.... frankly it's tosh!

BTW does anyone have any idea how to get SMS delivery reports? The RCT trick published all over the net does not work and Orange are clueless. This should be basic fucntionality included with any phone FFS!!!

This is Jack persuading someone to part with their phone for a knock down price !!!

Yes I would thanks

Send an SMS and you get a 'message delivered' message when the message is delivered to the user's phone.
Useful if sending SMSs abroad as they don't always get there.
Not rocket science is it?
My blackberry puts a tick next to the message when sent and a little 'D' when delivered. it's a feature I have always used on phones as it's needed to know when the women you're stalking receive your little message of affection. It's also useful to know which *******s are ignoring you!

Used to drive me mad when you know someone has received and not responded, especially with girls lol
Aaah right, well that sucks then
Most phones its usually quite easy to set up on, but I know some carriers dont support it.
As far as I know it works 2 ways, 1 is phone software, and 1 is network codes. If its network based then its not really down to the handset, more the network. What code are you meant to use?

I have been with Orange since the day they started more or less and every single phone I have ever had has had this functionality as a setting.
The iPhone does not - that is pretty poor.
Hope you get it sorted soon. Must be an app or something surely
I guess if not having delivery reports is a dealbreaker on your network, then time to move to a different phone
So the next iPhone OS is almost upon us. Apple will tell the world what's new this Thursday.
So, anyone care to take a guess? I'm going for a new Home Screen, the original is of course a game changer and still excellent but I think it's about time for a bit of a change.
Multitasking for more apps might be enabled, but it won't make a huge difference to me.
No doubt a few features will come from left field as that's the Apple way, others imitate Apple innovates.
Fingers crossed this subject doesn't get eaten by the trolls.
