I think you're getting confused with the GPS imposed speed limiter mate, which restricts top speed unless you're on a track. I don't think it affects power output!

hiya guys just got off the phone with my local dealer (proven in Haselmere) they say there will be 75 'sti cs 400' cars in total and confirmed the £50k price tag. He was also under the impression that it was a complete Cosworth lump, ap racing brakes on 355mm disks.. 0-60 3.7 secs..

Thought I would share.. I'll be getting a test drive when they get one

My thoughts:

· 400PS, 542NM, 0-60 3.7 seconds standing ¼ mile 12.75 seconds - I'd like to see this confirmed, I remember similar BS when the WR1 came out

· Available in Spark Silver, Dark Grey, San Remo Red. - Nothing New Here.

· Upgraded Pistons, Piston Rings, Con rods, Bearings, Gaskets & Studs - If I want them I'll get it from PowerStation, nothing new

· Upgraded Clutch, Turbo, Exhaust System, ECU. What ECU, Stand alone, remap what?

· Cosworth branded leather interior, re-trimmed steering wheel, Re-faced interior panels in high gloss piano black. - Oh dear, not even a set of nice Carbon backed Recaros for £50k and who the hell wants piano black panels if anything make it carbon!

· 6 pot AP racing brakes, front fog lights, lip spoiler, 18” light weight Alloys, upper and lower mesh Cosworth grilles, Privacy glass. - Boring, straight out the parts bin.

· Bilstein suspension developed by LOTUS. - Very good, hope it's adjustable for that amount of money

· 3 Years 36,000 miles warranty - You get that anyway with a new car, tell me something different.

· Each lucky owner will be invited to take a tour round the Cosworth factory. Great, I'd rather get some driving lessons than look at the inside of a factory, aint going to help me when I'm out on the road

· CS 400 will be available from early June and will be built at a rate of 4 per week. Unlucky if you're at the end of the que as you'll be getting your car just before winter and probably just as the new Impreza is launched.

In summary, £50k you must be feckin joking!

Tbh He has a point Really, I do tend to agree with all of the above statements.

for 50k you could take a bog standard hatch sti and make something interesting out of it that would better the cosworth. and yes the new sti will be out by the time that last owner collects theres. Just using old stock up before the new model is launched.

It's the most powerful Impreza yet available from the showrooms.
They'll sell them all easily, and as far as they are concerned, that's all that matters!
Every time a model is introduced that takes things a stage further, there are people who ask why they bother. The Sierra Cosworth RS500 for instance, and yet, it's the one they all want in the end!

Everyone has opinion, I'm simply voicing mine. If we all though the same it would be a boring forum.

Is this not a IM UK in collaboration with Cosworth developed car. Subaru (STi) developed cars such as the S204, Spec C RA-R, etc and are built from the factory.

Where do all the bits that are removed and replaced go, they are surely not throwing 75 sets of wheels in the bin

I'd agree it would get boring, I'm not slating Subaru, it's IM UK who are the ones that are bringing out this model.

What I was meaning about the parts is that owners who end up buying these cars should in theory get the bits that are taken off. Someone will be making money from this and it won't be coming off the RRP of the car

Wink

Just remember the P1 was 33k way back in 2000 and the 22B was 40k
so 50k allowing for inflation in 10 years is not out of the way

I can't see any dealers will have them as demos with only 75 made and 23 sold allready
has anyone one on scoobynet actually ordered one ?
Or are you keeping it a secret and fetching it to the nbo !!

Initially limited to 75 cars,

Not sure if that's a typo by Auto Express... but that word Initially points to more being made available if it sells well?

I'd certainly want clarification before shelling out £50k on a Limited 75 car run.... only to find out in 6 months another 75 were being made...

Reminds me of the original Renault Clio Williams uproar when the Williams 2 was released.

^^^Indeed^^^

A big part of the reason for shelling out this much for a Subaru has to be exclusivity

It'll sell, no doubt about that - the branding alone would see to it! However, the questions remain over its relationship to the 'big bang for minimal buck' philosophy that rice rockets are supposed to be predicated on AND it's value for money relative to offerings from Litchfield who provide more for less money AND a warranty!!

The hatch T25 still appears to be "coming soon" from Litchfield.

Yep, it is: You'd need to buy the previous generation if you wanted the 2.5 engine with the Cosworth bits; I think 37k is the going price!

Or you can have Type 20 now (if you must have the hatch). 400bhp from the JDM 2 litre twin scroll set up for 37k with the warranty.

Doesn't have the Kudos/exclusivity of the Subaru/cossie collaboration though! To some, that will justify the 13k price difference.

That's alot of money for an impreza! Having Cossie on board can only be a good thing for Subaru and probably the beginning of a new relationship! I think it's difficult to comment without any solid info.
As for rarity, cosworth approached Litchfield to colaborate on the Type25 mark2 and in terms of numbers there are fewer type25's available than the planned 75 cosworth sti's.
I think I'd have a t25!
