depends on Subaru's budget ;) |
Don't understand why they wouldn't use prodrive.
|
Prodrive havnt developed their own mechanical engine components is probably one reason. Like most things this will be related to business decisions behind the scenes, we often never get to know the real details of these.
|
Subaru really need a new collaboration and move away from the old prodrive days there last few years in wrc where a shambles with a former world champion consistently blaming the car and all the time getting his a#se handed to him by some young aussie. people don't need reminding of that so a move away from prodrive should be a good thing.
|
I bet Iain Litchfield is wondering why Subaru never spoke to him?
|
It is more of a Cosworth product, sold through Subaru dealers, than a Subaru product developed for them by Cosworth. It is direct competition with the Type 25, so obviously Subaru don't want to use Litchfield!
|
Always loved my saph 4x4 Cosworth and will be great to see the Cosworth badge back on street again and even greater on a Subaru :D
Cosworth racing pedigree's far superior to prodrives so its a good move in my book  |
Err, going on what we have seen before a 500hp car sold through Subaru, presumably with some sort of warranty is going to cost around £45-50k. To put it mildly, that is a tough sell.
I suppose Subaru are looking for some sort of halo effect here? If they can get it down to £35-40k they might shift a few. |
I know you can buy cosworth parts for scooby Tony.....
My point was the cosworths base is usa and subaru base is japan so cant see it being developed here...... What are people saying then that subaru are going to sell a cosworth production car as ford did in the 80s 90s???? Cant see it happening sorry |
IMHO will be no wehere near 500bhp as they will have to offer warranties etc

Shame Ford didn't think about this for the RS.
|
Alot of the die hard RS guys will be wondering the same thing.
Maybe Ford's penny pinching is greater than Subaru's |
The Focus RS engine mods were developed in collaboration with Cosworth
|
Just not enough for Cosworth to put their name on it...
|
I think someone missed a trick here. The Mk5 didn't need a Cosworth version, there's already myriad ways to extract more power.
What they should've done is got someone to redesign that disgusting exterior. The Mk5 looks like Subaru took the front from a crashed 100NX, the backend from a Leon and someone from Mazda to stick them together! Cosworth aren't going to fix that.. Heck Pinanfarina couldn't fix that fugly sh!t. But then I'm just a staunch Mk5 hater as it looks soo terrible and as gifted as Cosworth are, I doubt they can improve it. If Cosworth tweak the 2011 saloon (assuming it makes it here) or the Subaru version of the FT-86 - That would be a very interesting prospect... ...Commence flame.... |
What's a Mk5?
|
Do we know any more about this car yet??????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????
I might be interested but I bet its £40K plus and a GTR will be on my drive first if thats the case. PS ..my car is still working fine so far so good |
