with the hp u are getting at the wheels even after the loss at 22% it sure sounds like a uk model but neway upgrade to a standard wrx box in my opinion as the sti box is very short but if u do regular track days then a sti box may be better 4 u ?

Your probs getting too hung up on figures.

What 1/4 did you get?

Hmmmn, that's a tranny loss is some 35%! The Impreza turbo is normally more like 22% loss max!, so your car should be seeing around 237+ at the wheels.

Obvious culprit is indeed knack'd, slipping clutch...

Cant see ya box being that U/S, more likely a dodgy rolling road figure.

were u live m8 , im sure fiestaboy may be able to confirm more about the mapping side of things or jolly green monster but 300 is a big jump from the standard power output of a uk with just a map and a flywheel ? what about fuel pump etc and when u go down a hill with ur foot of the pedal in say 3rd gear does the car slow down or keep getting faster ? u defo need a clutch by the sounds of things obviously

Flippin 'eck! If you stop posting every 5s then perhaps you might like to read some of the responses!

Try reading post # 39. It indicates that somethings not right with your transmission. I doubt it's your UK gearing that's to blame, but worn clutch/box, etc....

less strain and pressure on the gearbox i suppose but obviously less resistance in the power train also , u would notice having one as said when u take ur foot of the pedal if the fly is lightened the car wont slow down via the gears it will normally roll 2 a stop lol as opposed to slowing the car down using the gears as they say

Why would you think it gives less loss?

It filled with the same guts (although differing ratio's)..........................!

A flywheel releases no extra power either.

Flywheels store energy not loose it, by running a lighter one you loose some smoothness, but gain a bit more throttle response.

andy forrest , fiestaboy ( fiestaboy is on scoobynet ) they can travel to come and map your car for u ( live mapping ) and also go with u to a rolling road

prefferably on a uk car for a decent spec a good map is a must but dont try and strain to much from the map eg: running everything at 100% dc lol try and uprate some of ur cars parts to cope with the power output eg walbro fuel pump , high flow panel filter or decent cone filter , a decat wouldnt go a miss but would defo need to be mapped for spikes etc as running your car at 300whp without much mods especially a uk wont last long try changing the clutch first and see how things go and if u already have then i would look into a map with some extra supporting mods

lightened fly's are not really necessary until high power outputs ( for racing needs only )and as 172 sez they are more for throttle responce

Less mas therefore less inertia. Means that the torque gets through to the driven wheels quicker upon throttle applications.

Too light though, and it can be a pig at idling, with stallin etc. 4kg is very light - I think I read yesterday that you really wouldn't want to run less than 7kg on the road - very tiresome otherwise...
