I totally agree with you there, I cannot see Subaru surviving unless they radically change the current line up.

Lets face it most people initially bought a scoob due to their rally success, I know I did. Now apart from the privateers as such they are a non entity in rallying as a factory outfit.

it's a slippery slope though Dave, and a decision has to made whether or not to continue ploughing endless milllions into rallying or just be content with what they have at this moment. It's much the same for the other manufacturers, with ford being lucky as they owe an absolute fortune, but have secured long term payment structures, so their cashflow is pretty well managed. (not sure how subaru fair as a unit, but FHI seem to be raking it in all over the place!!!

ps: i feel sorry for people who have sugar in their cocoa !!

Never been keen on the French stuff personally, but by all accounts it sounds like they go reasonably well at least. Each to their own as far as I'm concerned but I still think you have to go a long long way to beat the Hawkeye Impreza
Hawkeye? Verging on an Antiques Roadshow article of limited historic interest.

Here is the Renault ace though. At £22K you get a capable bit of metal for your mulah. With the equiv German fare you need to shell out another £7K.

Even your latest Impreza Sti, which is where you need to be for the performance, is a wallet hoovering £26K. Not that popular either.....

Gentlemen, the Renault Sport kit gives you that value for money and performance for the old hard earned.

Only a matter of time. Subaru has no product led future. They were a one trick pony.

The new WRX/Sti is nice for pulling precious Jemima's pony out of the Gymkana field, but that's about it in todays market. Buyers have voted with their feet.

Impreza Sti 330S.... Cold turkey's

Even @£22k you would have to be fooking mental to part that much cash for an obese Clio. Perhaps if you lack imagination, have given up post famile or you are indeed Frencher than a French Stick coated in French mustard, But even then I'd be thinking...Aye a'm shoore I con do bettier ???

Not suggesting you would want to shell out £22K for the Megane, but give me a better value new performance bit of kit for someone in that market.

I'll kick off: it aint an Sti or a Golf R or an FRS etc etc.

Not so easy. Specialist import and not UK mainstream. A good left field choice though.

I think if you (not you, but in general) are serious about cars, and with the increasing availability of performance cars in general, buying from a dealer such as Litchfields isn't as left field as it may have once been. It's fairly easy to rock up to a UK dealer with £22k and say in your best Little Britain voice "i Want that one" (whatever the manufacturer), but a true petrol head looks beyond the norm

Agree with that, but the UK JDM numbers sold indicates its a very, very limited market.

And, even though they are sharp handlers they still lack the all round capability of a Megane 250.

Wise observation and in hindsight I don't want to start sounding like a Renault PR ponce. I like 'em but there are obvious limits.

Make the most of the Megane now though.

Being French it'll be falling apart in 2-3 years

Good little car though, even if it does scream GT3 RS wannabe

Vans clearly made in different factory, as nearly 6 1/2 years and still going strong. (well apart from the Brands incident)
