Cool

Ok i think im up for the 335mm kit, but a couple of questions first,
1, How much of an improvement is this set up over OEM disc's and 4 pot's
2, Are they noisy, do you have to warm them up ?
3, Is it a DIY job to fit them ? do you have to bleed your brakes to fit the kit ?
4, What is the expected delivery date for these as my current brakes are totally shot and need doing right now.
5, How do we pay ? phone and pay by C Card or send a cheque to Ian.

Sorry for all the questions,
Im pretty sure i'll have them but could do with my questions answered first.

but need some questions asked.
...wait there... is this the whole brake kit or pads???

just read the topic!

if the whole kit.. how much? will it fit my MY95 ...

if just the pads... will it fit it as it's all standard apart from 16" alloys.

Phil....can you give Ian (Godney) a call please....he will answer all questions!!!!!

Scoob.....the kit is a full kit....take a look at the web site and follow the links to "308mm kit & 4 pot calipers"

Price is usually £575 but £500 as part of the group buy. I am buying the 308mm kit (I have 17's) but I am told that it will fit behind most 16 inch wheels. If you give Ian a call he will be able to tell you if they will fit.

Its gettin better all the time

Steve,

I already had you marked as "confirmed"...good to see you're enthusiastic about it though...

Once we have the required ten everyone will have to ring Ian (Godspeed) to sort out payment etc.

One thing though.....my kit gets sorted first since I started it!!!!!!!! LOL

I'm gonna update the scoreboard shortly..........

David

Hi David,

Please put me down as 'to be confirmed' for the 335mm kit plus braided hoses for 99MY UK. I'll be ready to order this week if required. I'm basically sold on them unless something negative appears on http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=81637. All very good words so far though.

Ian: What are the brackets made from ? Are they ally/steel cast/billet ?

Thanks

Steve

Steven , The brackets are made from steel , they are cut from flat bar and then milled to shape , we have been making them this way for the last 10 years and have never had a problem with them ,

Philgr , There is a big difference from standard to 335mm kit , It depends on what pads you go for , we can supply you with greenstuff pads or Mintex M1144 , depends on your style of driving , if you drive hard frequently go for the Mintex , they do work from cold but work better with heat , if you have grroved only discs they can groan a bit on the track , this is common for grooved discs , It is an easy job to fit the kits and your brakes will need bleeding when they are fitted ,

Cheers Ian

Only slightly related to the group buy, but I've got a UK MY98. Would people recommend moving the existing 2 pots on the fronts to the backs when I upgrade to the Godspeeds? Only ask as it would seem better to have 2-pots to the existing 1-pots on the back, and also I think the front discs are larger. Any ideas from the experts?

Chris/Jen - I stand to be corrected as I'm far from an expert but I seem to recall that you can't simply swap the MY98 2 pots to the rear. One of the biggest problems is the handbrake setup being integral with the existing rears (I think).

From the little knowledge I've gained there are 3 schools of thought on upgrading the backs at the same time as the fronts:

1 - Leave all as is as they're ok.

2 - Upgrade the existing discs & pads to same spec as front (eg grooved & 'better' pads)

3 - Get to a breakers and get some proper STi rears with the uprated setup.

Someone with more knowledge will be along shortly I expect (Ian - can you help?)

Cheers,
Steve

PS - might see you 2moro at Prodrive.

Thanks for the reply Spider! Will probably see you tomorrow, although I don't know what time we'll be getting there. I trust you'll not be bringing the Pug turbo diesel this time? Thanks for the advice on the brakes - we'll certainly explore those options!

Not sure what time I'm getting there either.

If you hear a loud clattering noise with a turbo whine accompaniment it means I've either turned up in a WRC car or the Pug TD! LOL

C U tomorrow,
Steve

BTT for the brake thread too.

Just got the EcuTEK 2 thing - standard brakes are a little frightening now I think I've ruined them in the past couple of weeks

So, a hopeful here for the 335mm kit. Just waiting for the doubtless insurance increase quote (I'm changing to 17" wheels at the same time ) & will then confirm... hopefully

Just another question. Does the £550 for the 335mm kit with hoses include VAT?

Hi Steve,

Std brakes only price is £560 inc delivery and vat, so it must be - 500 +VAT would be more than that.

Cheers
