next Herts meet
TB555
I went to my first meet alone without knowing a soul who was going and was absolutely terrified but everyone was so nice and friendly, apart from taking the pee out of me 'cos my scoob was the dirtiest one there (how was I supposed to know you wash them for meets???
)
Come along, tell us what car you'll be in so we'll know who you are

Hi all
Myself & "she that must be obeyed" can vouch for the open, friendly people you get at meets.
Since getting the bug we have been flying about all over the place.
So far :- Redbourn(our first),Bentwaters,Fen Ditton,Bolney,& The Big One at Gunthorpe.Next one up Hooks Cross.
Now, we are the shy retiring sort(that's why we drive a UK300)so we blend in & no-one stares.
And we have met some good people.
Seriously though once you dip a toe in the water you will be fine.
Dr Lurve's suggestion of a pre meet meet with a like minded female
sounds good if you need a bit of moral support. My wife will help if you like,if you cant find anyone local to you.See how you go.
Cheers Mark

Thunderbird - believe me, you couldn't wish to meet a nicer and more harmless set of people!
Basically, what happens at these things is people turn up at around the right time, and congregate in the pub car park with the cars, which makes it very easy for everyone to spot who is part of the meet and who isn't. No need to worry about arriving in a pub and asking for people (unless you turn up very late of course, when everyone will then be inside!).
Once the initial ooh-ing and aah-ing over each others cars is finished, people head inside and just have a natter over a drink or two (generally non-alcoholic as many will be driving), talking about anything and everything - often Scooby related, recent events, things on the BBS, etc. Or just the weather
. Then people head off home a few hours later when they're ready.
Totally pressure-free and relaxing - went to my first one a week after picking the car up (Oct 2000) and been to so many since that I've lost track. I've even ended up organising them!
Unfortunately I can't make this one (my brother's over for the weekend) but I'll hopefully be able to make the next one.
Enjoy!
Richard
ps if you want a bit of female support, take up ScoobyChick (Sal) on her offer as she's a big softie

Tb: Live in Hatfield? So do I... What is it you potter around in? I've only seen about 2 other scoobs regularly around, a "standard?" green uk2000 and a DBM of the same description.
You can find me playing pool in the Cat and Fiddle many a night, usually very badly
It'll be my first meet as well, but I've met some of the crowd before. I'll be in the black 93WRX with no foggies because a monkjack decided to collide with my front end last week

Hi All
A big thank you to all of you for your responses, I feel alot better now
. I will definately have to come along - I cannot back out after all this.
My car is a green MY99 Sport which I bought in Feb 2000. Due to circumstances at the time, I could not get a turbo; due to current circumstances I cannot think about changing it, but one day.....
Dan - I'm always driving about Hatfield, WGC, St Albans. Never seem to see many other Scoobs though. In fact, I was beginning to think I was the only one in Hatfield!
Jen - If you ever want to go to a rally (national or international), I'm up for it - I tend to do a lot of the Welsh ones - got to miss the Rally of Wales this year though, I'm going to Ireland that weekend (doh).
Ian - did I take you out of context yesterday - if I did, I'm sorry, thats the only trouble with the internet - you can't see the expression behind the words!
See you all on Saturday.
Deb

Hiya Jimi, I know I am pathetic at turning up, one of these days!! I got a cut price deal on a driving course (gravel and tarmac) too good to miss (someone cancelled last minute and there was a free place). Is that a good enough excuse? Jen.
