Hi Steve,
Thanks for the links.
There are a couple issues with these (and no I am not being ungrateful )
Both are competition brakes (bleeding, disassembling all the time, race pads, race discs, short life span etc.)
1. the 6 pot is for 310 mm discs only.
http://www.apracing.com/download/cat.../Page%2026.pdf
2. the 4 pot is for 304 mm discs only.
I know that competition brakes are more efficient and all, but they do not work under "street" circumstances that well and high maintenance costs and time makes them a pain.
Anyways, still THANK YOU for looking out and I hope I will find my CP5570 or CP5200 kit soon...
Cheers,
R.

Hi mate
sorry but i am picking your brains here, why does it have to be these part numbers CP5570 or CP5200, are they the street kit then? and what is soo good about these version comapred to others?
sorry for the questions but as i said earlier on this thread you have done a lot of research where i have not as they have always come fitted on the car i bought (lucky for me) so i have nevr had to learn the ins and outs.
also WORKINPROGRESS is breaking his 600bhp machine and has a set of AP 6 pots and 356mm disks so it might be worth dropping him a pm think he is after £1300 odd quid though so not sure if thats in your budget.
best of luck

Hi Stevie,
Yes, they are the classic street kits. Obviously with a different adapter them can be installed on new age as well. These are the 330 mm calipers specific to Subaru Impreza.
As mentioned above, they are Impreza specific. I have seen several hybrid installs and they never worked perfectly. They could be made OK (like I have seen a CP5555, CP7040 w/330 mm discs etc.).
1. The 2 calipers I am after are trailing piston designs as opposed to others being leading.
2. Piston sizes developed specifically to Subaru Impreza, hence they work so well compared to other kits/calipers.
3. Wheel clearances, brake disc ET values etc. are all Impreza "friendly" so do not need to worry about ET decrease etc.
Yeah, you lucky bloke...
Yes, I saw that ad. Checked the pics, it seems that it is CP7040, plus the price is very very close to new price, so I do not think it is a good deal for me. Plus, they are red...
So far not having any. 2 close leads, 1 of them decided to not sell, the other one decided not to swap or separate from car.
I am trying really, but it is kind of specific and really know what I want, how I want etc. As I have said before, if I have waited for years, might as well find the one I really dreamed on the car.
Cheers,
R.

cheers for that, you have done your research lol.
the CP5570 or CP5200 is for thew 330mm disks then?
which you are after not the bigger 356mm?
what are the partnumbers for the big 356mm kits?
as i have the AP 4 pots and although they are good i would not mind a nice set of big 6 pots, depending on how they fair up at brandshatch on the 22nd of feb, but if i do need to change them then it will have to be end of the year as i have too much going on but it would be nice to know the right part numbers
will keep looking for you mate, 2 sets of eyes are better then 1
cheers
steve

I think I have just dreamed about these for too long...
That's right (Though the CP5200 can be bought with 304 mm discs as well).
Those are just too big for a classic. I have both 17" and 18" wheel sets.
18" are great for daily driving (street), but to avoid rubbing etc. the 17" are my "play" wheels w/17" slicks. These only accept 330mm discs.
Plust, just easier that way and not to mention 355 mm kits are too heavy, overkill etc. (for Classic there is)
For classic there are no mounting kits (officially)
For new age:
CP7040 - 1001 => For 355 mm kit
CP7040 - 1002 => For 362 mm kit
These are the 2 disc sizes the CP7040 calipers take. (Be careful, because CP7041 is for a formula 180 mm disc size kits )
If you decide to upgrade to CP7040 kit consider the following:
1. You will definitely need to have a rear brake upgrade as well (because of brake bias)
2. Your 4 pots are race derived, but to my knowledge CP7040 is not, so your 4 pots MAY perform better then the above mentioned kit. If you would like to go 6 pots still, you can have the option of the CP5570 (however, you would need to stick with 330 mm discs)
Really thank you for your enthusiastic support.
Let's hope we will find this freakin' kit...
Cheers,
R.

Think the problem I will find is the 304mm disk won't or is not big enough for track work, I had the 330mm 6pots (not sure what model) probably one you are looking for and they were brilliant stopped on a dime. These 4 pots dont seem to appear to be anywhere near as good on the road let alone when I get them on the track. We will have to see,
and no worries mate, glad to be of help and thanks for the helpful advice

1. Disc - Pad combos are crucial, my mate had Ferrodo pads w/ ProjectU discs, never could stop (AP Calipers), ProjectU pads w/ProjectU discs, awesome stopping etc. => If I were you I would check the pads, discs etc.
In my experience w/other people's cars, that AP brakes work best with AP discs and AP suggested pads. For whatever reason. AP discs are expensive, but something "magical" about them stopping better.
2. Brake fluid, most people overlook this issue, although it is as important as having a great break kit IMHO. AP Racing is good, but all Big Brands (Motul, Endless etc.) working great.
3. Lastly, if all else fails, a couple quid and send it to refurb, maybe you have 1 brake piston faded too much etc. Seal kits are usually around 11 GBP per caliper and can mean night and day difference.
Cheers,
R.

erchie, are they they 6 pots? if so why are you getting rid of them for another setr of 6 pots or 8pots as i would of thought the AP 6 pots you have would be up to the job in hand

Erchie I spotted them but there is a group buy for a brand new set at £799 so not worth paying £650 for them I did email gradeA to let them know and ifthey were open to a deal to which I recieved
'thanks for letting us know'
and the next day it was delisted for the same price.
Plus ronin is after APs as he has his mind set on them.
R I text that guy with the 6 pots and got an email with pictures I don't think you will want them as they are the older style ap's not likethe ones on the first page I will pop the picture up tomorrow when I get to work

I have received the pics as well. I also thought they are old (and expensive for such condition TBH), because refurb would total the cost towards a new set.
Anyways, I keep on looking, maybe Erchie will sell his as well, or as always, large sum of money arrives on my account by some lucky lottery and then a new set.
Cheers,
R.
