AP Racing Front 330 mm BBK - Brakes

Hi All,

I am looking for AP Racing 330 mm Big Brake kit for my car.
GC8 MY99/00

Ideally I am really after the CP5570 6 pot kit in Competition grey, but the following are also considered:
AP Racing CP5200 4 pot Black/Yellow
AP Racing CP5570 6 pot Black/Yellow

Only Genuine AP Racing Discs/Bells/Mounting kits/Calipers please. :)

Cheers,

R.

Yeah mate I saw it.

Unfortunately, I got my heart on the AP Racing kit for almost 5 years now, so I am just going to go with that idea.

Correct choice: the only way of stopping quicker than the AP 6 pot kit is to crash into a wall! :D

Awesome brakes, but you'll have to pay for em: they cost 2k + new, so people ain't gonna let em go cheap.

Here are mine (not for sale) just to wet your appetite. You'll also want some alloys that show em off nicely. Ultraleggeras work for me

Good hunting! :thumb:

Nice looking brakes. ;)
I will have a set of 18" RL-7 Raceline wheels and a set of 17" ST-2 Speedline wheels to show them off. As long as I will find a set.
I know they are not cheap. Hence the 5 year wait. :p
Something always comes up, but I have decided to get them this year and avoid everything else to get there....khm... stop there to get them. :D

Bump for Competition Grey colored CP5570 kit. :)

Just a thought for you mate but I noticed you said you had a set of 17" speedlines as far as I know die to the 6pot you will struggle to fit them under a 17" alloy I though you needed 18's but I maybe wrong. Bet of luck though I had them fitted to my p1 and boy they are a good set of brakes, Gita set of 4 pot ap's on the new scoob and they are jus as good on the road not had them on the track as yet and I get the bonus of being able to still run on 17's

ronin_hungary 25 December 2009 02:48 PM

I assume you are talking about the CP7040 6 pot kit w/355 mm discs.

I am after the 330 mm CP5570 6 pot kit, but any decent CP5200 4 pot is considered as well. :)

Cheers,

R.

Hi mate

I had the 330mm disks on my p1 but I don't know the code for the calipers but they were 6 pot calipers and I could not fit 17's over them. Clearly you have a lot more knowledge on code numbers etc but I would be very causious when buying them if you intend to run 17's as you may find clearence issues on the depth of the alloy to the caliper

Hi,

I did not mean to be a smartass in previous post with the part numbers! :thumb:

It is interesting you say that you could not fit 17" over 330 mm kit.
I have seen the CP7040 calipers mated with 330mm disks before (though they were not intended for such use by AP).

The kit I am looking for is this:
- Classic Shape (94-01) - Front 6 Piston Kit CP5570-1000 - Ø330x28mm Disc.

In Comp grey preferably. :norty:
The same size wheel offered for the CP5200 kit (4 pot).
These calipers are very Subaru specific, slim etc. with the proper mounting kits. Obviously not all wheels are created the same.
Maybe different wheel designs, different mounting kits etc. :wonder:

Anyways, the CP7040 looks similar to CP6600
6 Piston Calipers - CP7040 Family - Suits Ø362x32mm Disc - 16.8mm Thick Pad
4 Piston Calipers - CP6600 Family - 130mm Mounting Centres - Suits Ø330mm Disc

And my friend's CP6600 is a hard choice to find a wheel over it. So that's why I assumed the above mentioned setup you might had. ;)

But you know what, if I can get my hands on a set of CP5570 kit (especially in comp grey) I swap my 17" ST-2 for anything that fits, and my Raceline 18" will fit anyway. :lol1::D:cool: In worst case scenario, I will grind my ST-2 wheels. ROFL :D

R.

Ha no mate I didn't think you were being a smart arse as you put it but you clearly done your homework lol, as you say if the don't you could always sell them.

I was lucky on both the 6 pots on my p1 and the 4 pots on my sti5 they came fitted already by the previous owner ;)

best of luck and I would be interested in knowing you end result

ronin_hungary 26 December 2009 10:08 AM

You are definitely lucky to have such brakes.
The OEM brakes are pretty much useless. :(

I take a pic, once I get a set. Fingers crossed. :)

How much you wanna pay? I have some four pot ones the discs are brand new supplied by godspeed, and the pads are brand new ferodo..
Exactly as the ones pictured further up but the AP logo has been painted(by me) blue to match the detailing on the car I was going to fit them ..however I might sell at the right bid
ANy interest?

Yeah, I saw these before. They have been advertised for a long time (maybe for a reason). Anyways, judging from the pics, I have no idea where to look for the "great condition", maybe under the discs. :(

I check this out though. Maybe he ran into a Black/yellow or Grey/yellow as well. :) Thanks for the heads up and looking out for me. :thumb:

what is your budget mate? as there are plenty out there brand new and would you consider the 4 pots?

Obviously, if I could buy these brand new, I would have already done so, saving all the trouble in the past 4-5 years. Unfortunately, I still do not have a job in the UK, until then I have to work with Hungarian salary. :(

I would consider 4 pot APs sure. :thumb:

As for budget, I would not want to state prices, because it has a lot of factors to be considered. Let's just say that I think I can afford the current going market prices for these AP 6 pots, 4pots as used. :)

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that I would be more than happy to do trades (for my for sale items) + cash. :D

Cheers,

R.

ok cool just some people can afford to buy brand new but obvioulsy would rather not when you can buy the used for half the money. some such as me cant see the point in paying twice as much for the samething just to say they are new.

i assume you have the std setup subaru 4 pots at the min?

If I would wait another couple years or being so lucky that sell all my remaining stuff at once, then I might be able to buy them new (according to some topic here 1200 + shipping was the lowest price) and rip off the price from my account as a bandaid. :) But you are right, definitely does not worth the double money for sure, however, since it was out of my options anyway I did not even think about it like that. :)

Yeah, pretty much useless. :( Probably keep them for winter times, but this Spring I really would like to be able to stop.
I already tried, different discs, pads etc. I have APP SS brake lines, GDB brake master cylinder and servo, but still, the car just does not want to slow down. :(

My Prodrive Alcon 330mm brake set is a nice bit of kit.

Thanks for the response Bob. I have sit in a couple cars with these brakes on and to be honest, I still feel/think that APs are better, and since prices are pretty much the same for used brake kits (AP, Brembo, Prodrive, Wilwood etc.) I am just stubborn I guess... Sorry... :(

Cheers,

R.
