Dear simon
Thanks for trying to map my car but unfortunately did not have any luck.
just wanted to address some of the comments you made in your post,.To start with the message that was posted by me was not there to affect your credit as a mapper, but the truth in which the service i recieved.
Firstly the base map was put on my car for a price , was very disapointed as you did not have any equipment to check fuel pressure it was just a simple case of adjusting fse (thought that would be worth checking) but you simply played with adjusting screw fuel pressure was far to high !!!!!!
i was led to bellieve that the price off the map would include second tune up but unfortunatly ended up costing me more rolling road fees fees due to a missfire i then had a pack of pfr6 plugs in the boot of my car which you kindly gapped using the wall of the rolling road (i thought you was a magician the way in which you gapped them) totally unprofessional. Then after you could not get the car running it come off the rr + i got greeted with a £70 bill (who would be happy) (The rolling rd operator offered to charge me 40 and not come back) so with that he was paid the full amount thats just me !
the same as you were paid in cash. you then offered me my money back in which i never followed up on !!! (maybe put it towards a feeler guage instead of using walls.
or possibly some training !
It seems clear on some off the comments you made what sort of business + aftercare you run .
This message is not written to be an attack on u simon jolly green monster but the service + work that i recieved .
hope you have good christmas (may see you again sometime)
p.s (since i gapped the plugs set fuel pressure had a good remap my car good)
I GUESS EVERYONE HAS BAD DAYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So you ask Simon to map your car, but turn up with several problems and expect him to fix them for free - and then do the mapping.
Then when he can't magically fix your car you get the strop.

FWIW Simon gapped the plugs on my car. Dunno how he did it (wasn't paying attention) but they have been spot on for the last year - so however he does it certainly works.

I can only think of one fault with Simon..... his excessive intake of Diet Coke. Drink some tea man!!!

Jesus christ! Just read this whole thing! Simon has mapped my car (it's first map) and i was happy as a pig in the proverbial! The car has since developed a few issues down the line and simon has been happy to help me out (even though i haven't come to any rr days as my bloody bodywork still isn't finished!!!) He has always been as helpfull as possible. Plus he's not bloody kwik fit, where he can just run around doing little fixes everywhere!! his time will cost money! as will a rolling road! Blimey!!!!!! I mean come on, seriously??!!
Simon, you have my vote buddy. Don't let this bad karma bring you down. Plus i hope to see you soon in the new year to sort out my bug eye'd baby.

I didn't just put a base map on the car I spent much time whilst you drove setting it up and iirc along with fixing issues with your car unpaid.

I used the wideband and injector settings to adjust the fuel pressure to slightly over standard.. FSE fuel pressure regs are notoriously crap at maintaining the same pressure and this maybe why the pressure is now too high.

The second tune up cost you nothing it was only the rolling road time which I believe I spoke to you about before hand, your issue was paying for the rolling road time when the car was not finish.. which I can understand and like I said if it were my rr I wouldn't have charged you until it was complete like I didn't charge you for any of my time on the car that day, despite it not being MAPPING as you paid for in the first place as you pointed out.. you paid for mapping, not for me to fix issues with the car outside of mapping.. but unlike other places I try and fix issue to try and resolve the problems with the car, I cannot predict or influence the condition a car turns up in other than advise beforehand.
A car that came to the same dyno last month had a misfire, I regapped the plugs, the car then had an issue with actuator adjustment, so I adjusted it, it then has an issue wit hthe induction pipe collapsing under high boost, I fixed that and iirc there was another thing.. once complete the guy said where he had taken it previously they would have taken the car off the rollers and told him to take it away and fix it so it would have taken him four appointments to get the car finished - that is what is called a poor service.
I did use a feeler gauge, I did tap one plug as I was concerned the adjuster tool was too close to the ceramic when placed on the electrode and I didn't want to crack the ceramic.

I have never seen him annoyed or shocked, he is one of the most laid back people I know.. yet with you in the process anger and argument is added.

like I said because of your threatening behavour I thought it was perhaps the sensible thing to suggest / offer to shut you up. I have a family. I run this business for the enjoyment of it and others.. I could have raised to the threats but I am bigger than that.. and I explained above.. I did use feeler gauges to do you free work on the car

I think the rest of the posts show the level of after care I provide and you have purely highlighted the only issue in all of this is you.

JGM has mapped my car in various states of tune about 3-4 times and has been extremely helpful with every tiny problem i've had along the way. I've probably PM'd him about 1000 times over the last 2 years or so and he's always found the time to reply and point me in the right direction.

Simon does a great job and is a really nice guy as well. It's sad to see a few negative remarks that seem to generate so much attention. If you read the comments on SN and other forums regularly, you will see a large number of positive comments about JGM.

I guess it's all about human nature - there are always a few out there !!

Fair play mate, I think it would be a waste of your valuable time to continue responding. You have enough support here. Considering the number of cars you map you will always get a couple of prats, shame really.

I am very surprised if there is anyone that is genuinely disappointed with their maps from Simon or from his customer service - from reading the comments on this thread I can see that of the 2 negative posters, 1 seems to have some ulterior motive (and has never had a car mapped by Simon) and the other seems to think that it is the mappers job to fix everything wrong with the car.

As Simon has said, there are plenty out there that will not touch the car if there are issues and will try and map around problems rather than try and fix (for free or even for a small expense).

As for a safe map versus a power map.... I am sure Simon has never had anyone ask 'can you do me an unsafe map?' (except maybe Fud but he is as mad as a box of frogs so doesnt count .. sorry Fud )

had my car mapped 3 times this year by JGM, after different bits added, and it has made near enough what he expects each time, and he always has the time and patience to answer my questions, service is great and so is after care, I say what I would like to acheive and he recommends the best way of getting it, so many thanks Simon, and I will definately be using you again

simon can you please come and map my track car please i will gladly pay you the full price of the ecu and extra maps all you need to do is finish building the engine then fit it along with the gearbox then if anything goes wrong it will be your fault and i can then go onto a public forum and slate your work because my car is not right

as if

simon maped my car and will be mapping my track car when its finished as his work and advice is faullt less
i had an exhaust leak which took 2 hours to resolve but he didnt charge me for his time waiting then we went out again but my boost controler wouldnt allow more than 1.2bar so we sat down looked at what we had and after his advice that my fueling was at 92% his opion was to stop at what we had which was a good responsive map that was SAFE which is them main reason for getting him to drive all the way to derbyshire
i work hard for my cash and im very carefull who i hand it over to which is why i spent many hours serching for a highly recomended mapper and it always came back as simon

i think i will always use simon and if anybody askes me to recomend a mapper his will be the first name out of my mouth
my car bears his sticker with pride

Steve
Got sti 2 will forged pistons 0.5 over bore,ACL bearing etc, front mount, hks filter, 3 1/2" exhaust from the turbo, fuel pressure reg, full cut def, yellow injectors, boost controller. and got rolling roaded at 310bhp at 1 bar,
Thought id get a apexi power fc to take care of everything and make it a bit saver, after mapping with new ECU by jolly it mad 280 bhp............
Was stunned as all that moding for a standard bhp.
So ive now put a fcd and up'd the boost to 1.3 bar and rolled at 340bhp 349 torque. running sweet.
Would you be happy?
