Good price, the ST seems to be holding its money well, which is good.

I've been offered £12k for my 2007 ST2 and I only paid £14k for it almost 2 years back, fairly good depreciation in my eyes although it is low miles/good nick.

Petrol consumption is mid 20MPG,the wife went from a Mondeo ST TDCI which didnt matter how hard it was driven never went below 40MPG and before that she drove a Focus 2.0L TDCI which managed 28MPG .
Get one,if you can live with the MPG you wont be disappointed.

Had An ST220 for 4 years before my current car so i'd imagine it would be about the same (prob better on the motorway.. my ST was one of the old 5 gear ones.. could barely manage 27 on a run)

Current car is Civic 2.2 diesel.. Hate it.. boring as hell.. but liking 45 MPG..

Decisions decisions...

If you get the dream science unit with the multi map on, there is a eco map on that, which i can get the ST up to 40mpg easily

I run the DS with the DSCi program and manage 23-24mpg which is what a standard ST does exept i have approx 275bhp and 330lb/ft (never RRd but these were the figures i was given)
The Race+ map is supposed to be more eco but maybe only another 1-2mpg and this is 255 - 260bhp (less boost)

A full tank around town gives approx 230 - 240miles but this was the same in my previous Scoobs

Less miles but more smiles

It was that webuyanycar.com thing. A few of the Focus forum lads have used them without an issue providing the car is as you describe it. They will knock a £100 or so off for any scuffs etc but there prices are genuine apparently.

I have both an ST and a Civic 2.2 diesel. Although the Civic is better on fuel than the ST (40mpg vs 23mpg), the ST is a better car to own - I find the Civic a bit crashy, even compared to my lowered ST and the ST is generally nicer to live with and cheaper to run. ST also has 300bhp so the fuel econ is fine by me.

The only downside is that my ST is very basic in trim, so doesn't have any of the toys that the Civic has.

Our last Civic service was over £500, whereas the ST is only £180 ish so over 1 year the savings are less than you think.

We also have one of the dodgy 56 plate Civic's with the weak clutches as well and it's just started to slip in all gears at only 32k miles. Quotes are ranging from £800 for the clutch alone to £2,500 if the flywheel is damaged. Honda know about this issue and they have changed the whole assembly on 09 plus cars, but they won;t do anything about it.

But be aware that 2007 ST's also suffer from clutch issues, and of course my ST is a 2007 so I have 2 cars with manufacturer fault based slipping clutches but at least the ST is "only" £900 for the RS flywheel/clutch fitted and I did expect higher clutch wear as the ST is remapped and the std clutch can;t cope with the increased torque on some cars.

Depends how you drive on the MPG - some of the Focus forum lads regularly manage 28mpg ish during a weeks work runs.

In dreamland maybe.

There is no "eco" map, there are just different maps ranging from 255 up to 270bhp and none of those will get you anywhere near to 40mpg unless you are talking about your lookalike?

The best econ I've had in mine was about 29mpg taking it very easy. I run the DSCI map and get the same as robby, roughly 22-23mpg max although I'm running other mods as well.

There isn't an eco map on DS though.

And MPG figures have to be real world not some 60mph motorway blast for 5 seconds.

Slightly off topic but I used bestcarbuyer when selling my wifes car...the price offered initially was Ok (same as webuyanycar) but after discussion, they upped the price by £1k.

The added appeal of betscarbuyer was that they transferred the funds into my account before taking the car (they come and collect it) which I'm not sure webuyanycar do?

what other mods have you got?
As well as the DS i've got the K+N element, ecu spacer and baileys dv (yeah i know) but i'm looking for a DS cai as it's supposed to be the best for power/ noise

Mine is on a 06 plate and I noticed the clutch slipping for the first time last week. Hasn't done it since. Had just driven 250 miles and was going down a slip road in 4th and I could feel it going when I was accelerating.. don't know if it was a one off thing or not.. But knowing how fragile they are i'd rather get shot of it before it gets worse.

Didn't know the Focus had clutch probs either.. Was thinking about something like a 07 model.. But I could be tempted into a facelift one too.. can't make my mind up...

Cheers.

I have the Code:Red CAIS and intake pipe, Airtec Gen3 intercooler (best mod by far when summer arrives!!), 2008 Pro Eibach springs, Magnex catback, and I have a bailey DV as well - I like the noise, so stuff what anyone else says

Only mods left to do are downpipe and sports cat, but not sure if it's worth spending £500 for a slight power/noise increase as yet, and then maybe a Quaife LSD - I need the clutch doing this year which is £900 or I can have the LSD as well for £1800 all in and fitted - depends if I'm keeping it or not.

Our Civic slipped every now and then, but last week we got stuck in snow and had to give it some welly which gave the clutch a workout and since then it's been slipping in all gears, even just on light throttle in 3rd gear.

I'm sure you've been on civinfo.com and seen the amount of clutch failure threads over there.

Focus seems to have issues around 2007 from a poll we did on the STOC forum but can affect other model years and only appears to happen on modded/mapped cars. Even a couple of Mountune equipped cars have started getting clutch issues even though MT said it wouldn't happen.

It's not as bad as the Civic slip though, driven it for over a year now without it getting worse.

Just hope the Civic holds on long enough to PX it in the next few weeks as we wer selling it after Xmas anyway.

The ST3 will give you
Heated front leather seats, heated front screen, electric windows, dual climate a/c was factory option so there are some out there, 6 disc in dash stereo, on board computer, 18" alloys

reverse parking sensors - can be retro fitted
electric drivers seat -nope
rear door window blinds - ford accessory
mirror - not sure
auto headlights -xenons but not auto
auto wipers - nope

some rare STs had other factory options such as electric sunroof, sat nav, etc
