With the handling of modern racing cars, if they are fairly close in that department most F1 drivers will be able to get similar cornering performance from them. Its is only if you have a major advantage such as the double diffuser that you can leave the others for dead.
When you put a driver of Hamilton's ability into a car of similar cornering performance to the others, if he pulls out an advantage, that is down to the man himself. He is good enough to do that.
If your car is below the others in performance in F1, it is virtually impossible to make it up as they used to be able to do years ago with superior driving ability.

Its boring to someone that doesn't like motorsport - its boring to those that do like motorsport but they still watch it because its considered the pinacle of motorsport for good or bad.
I have never and will never watch a game a football. Bores me to tears.
I'd rather watch a game of rugby than football and even then I don't have much choice - down the pub, live in wales etc.

Mark Cavendish should have won,
He won 6 stages of the tour de france, won the Milan-San Remo at his 1st attempt.
Then again cycling is not a main stream sport so he was never going to win.

As a petrolhead I'd liked to have seen Brawn or Button pick up something. All the same its been a fairy tale year so I'm not complaining.
I can't abide football either, so forgive my ignorance if I'm missing something, but shouldn't the winner really have had some international success?

Hardly Mr Personality is he?
Come to think of it nor is Giggs. I just checked his current world ranking as a player. He stands at #171.
Last time I looked, Button was at #1.
Sure Giggs had a reasonable season (and used to own a 22B), but if that wasn't an extra "life-time achievement" award, then I'm Tiger Woods.

Bit like saying give the SPOTY to Hamilton. He won a couple races.......

I have to say I was just as staggered as Giggs was himself when the winner was announced.
I've heard of the achievements of most of the others in the running, albeit in passing, whereas I had no idea Giggs had a good/interesting/record breaking/whatever season.
Whilst it is remarkable what he's achieved (which I only know from this thread), I'm still non-plussed as to why he's won. Anyone who doesn't follow football probably hasn't heard of him this year (let alone other years). I doubt many people in the country haven't heard what Button achieved this year.
I knew there were a ridiculous number of Man Utd fans outside of Manchester, but this win for Giggs seems to confirm half the country support Man Utd.
So, Mr Football Mad Southerner, what first attracted you to the richest and most successful football club in history...

Well if that what you feel then you are not forced to watch or even read about it of course!
I will always watch it since the whole race is of interest in every respect including team strategies etc. The only thing that worries me next year is the ban on refuelling. I think that could remove a lot of interest from the racing.

And yes, Wow. They beat the main contenders out of nowhere. It was meant to be BMW's year. Last year they were the best of the rest. Spent Millions on Fluid Dynamic software that was meant to design the fastest car on the grid. But they got it wrong. And for their mistakes, the BMW board pulled the plug.

All but in a name. The same people whether call Honda or Brawn designed, manufactured, tested, and raced that car.

Yes - the same people did all the work, I'll accept that.
However all this was done over a period of years FFS with millions spent in the process
Then honda sell up to Brawn
Infact thinking about it wasn't Honda formed from BAR?
If so then Honda didn't design the car either
I'll look that up later on.
So Brawn managed to make a few bits and pieces and get a remarkable jump on the rest of the field initially

Does anyone remember who won it last year then? Chris Hoy.
