Kev, do you know at what rpm both the SC40 and SC46 Billets make like-for-like max boost on a 2.0L -- is there a noticeable difference on the road, between the two re. spool-up?

I think because the SC40 and 46 were both 'billetised', it left the non-billet SC42 looking somewhat redundant.

But now the SC42 is being billetised itself, it now slots nicely between the 40 and 46 again.

Is that right, Kev?

Hi,

it wasnt withdrawn because it was inferior, its not its a stunning turbo but at the time everyone wanted the SC40 or the 46 Billet, there did not appear to be much of a market for it.

Times change though and we have had loads of enquiries for a ball bearing billet turbo thats not as big as the SC46 Billet, some folks feel its a bit to big for their build, a little bit of overkill if you you like and want something smaller but ball bearing cored, hence the re-release of the SC42 Billet.

Hope that explains, they will be in stock late next week pricing to follow.

Thanks for the response - does that mean that the SC42 I purchased back in the middle of September 2010 was not a 'Billet' wheeled turbo - thought it was?

Hi Kev,

It was the post above yours - I was skimming thro' and thought the reply above stating that the SC40 and SC46 were billet wheels but the SC42 was not was from Scoobyclinic - my mistake.


Am well pleased with the performance of it either way but just wanted to make sure.

Hi,

its a Billet relax and enjoy.

Glad it goes well.

Joz, years ago there was an SC42 non billet, in fact the whole range were none Billet until the lighter more aerodynamic billet wheels became available but the SC42 Billet really was a full up billet and will be so again.

The idea is to fill the gap between the SC46 Billet and the none roller bearing cored SC40 Billet, as stated earlier some people want a ball bearing core but dont want a turbo as big as the SC46.

Hi you have got the job now list the rest of the range.

There is the 50, 54, then the rotated GT30 Gt33 and GT 35 all billet comp wheels, we tried the GT37 or newly re-named TO4Z Billet and it choked up so back to the drawing board.

Yeah, those ones are waaay beyond my engine's/gearbox's current capabilities, hence me not being 'interested' in listing them LOL.

Hi,

just mapped a 2.1 stroker with an SC36 Billet, wow what a stunning little turbo, on V power it just made 390 BHP at 1.5 bar.

Clean as a whistle no det and Andy one of our mappers reckons it would easily break the 400 BHP mark, however as its out on a track day tomorrow at Cadwell we thought it better to be conservative.

Near-400bhp, with "better-than-a-16g"-like spool-up! What a mental - read usable! - road car that must be?!!!

Think thats answered my questions then!

With one of the maps as a 20% meths map ill be bang on what i was aiming for!

So its between the 40 or the new 42 ..... can anybody quantify how much better the spool is on a BB over a sleeve? But saying that, i cant imagine it getting a hole heap cheaper than the 46BB, and with its more delicate internals .... think im sold on the 40!

Yeah, I reckon the RB 42 will spool the same as the non-RB 40 - therefore, no brainer???

I finally got my SC46 twinscroll, after months of fighting with UPS and other state postal offices, huge thanks to Kev for helping me out all this time!

It will be going on a 2.12cc JDM V9 motor, so we shall see how it does
here's a quick pic of what it looks next to VF36, feel the difference

yeh can we just get the results on the sc46 on a 2.1 i hear theres been loads done but not seen a graph yet?

its a pricey turbo so i want to make sure its worth the money before i take my trek to enginetuner...

Hi,

the SC46 billet a very good turbo, its by far one of our best sellers and I dont think its at all expensive, to be fair there are many non billet turbos out there that are more expensive by far, and as you mention "engine tuner" you will find Martyn would welcome the SC46 Billet as its a known commodity.

I am sorry that I have been unable to update the thread, internet has been down for 3 days, so much for our 12 hour rapid response fault service we pay for.

Will update when I have the printouts.
