That's it - I gotta replace my 20g with one of these 36 billets!

Add in a set of harvey's ported OEM headers and uppipe, and I'll be away...

SC46 Billet on a built 2.5 ltr, due to budget the car was on standard headers and up pipe, new budget, a set of GT spec headers and 3 bolt up pipe added, a map tweak and...

Great result.

On the road the turbo made 1 bar of boost @ 2650 RPM and 1.5 bar @ 2900 RPM, thats full boost under 3000 RPM, and just look at that torque figure, 495 ftlb's.

One very happy customer.

cheers

I bet that car pulls hard with that much torque . Another impressive result.

Any news on the GT33's yet, has anyone mapped one?

That's mental torque. Straight V-Power or meth mix?

Cheers Kev was hoping you would post this up. Happy is an understatment. It was on straight v power so meth could be next if i decide to.

Headers have made the car a lot quieter inside Kev which is great but when i open the drivers window for a listen....the word drool comes to mind!!

What are your thoughts on meths on my set up kev? Am i pushing it a bit?

Have to say another big thats to scooby clinic and especially The gaffer. Lots of help throughout. Thumbs up from me (a very happy customer)

Hi Craig,

Meths will help spool and if we pushed it would help make more power but as it is the car is safe running only 1.5 bar and we like to draw the line at 450 BHP on the 2.5 semi closed deck block regardless.

I think as it is you have a near perfect set up at that level, I feel it would be a bit silly to push it further for the sake of figures, the spool is fantastic, full tilt under 3000 RPM, stunning, usable power.

cheers
Kev

Fookin hell! That's a healthy result!!!!

Sorry If I've missed something here, but is this on the Std STi TMIC or an FMIC.... didn't see any mention of inter cooling in the spec. Going for a SC46 based conversion on my Sti 9 soon and wondering what to do about the inter cooler situation.

Advice appreciated!

Hi,

its on a fmic, we stock the Perrin units, very good quality and they fit.

I ran 450 BHP on a hyperflow top mount on my 2.5 conversion, but as we did an intercooler test for Japanese performance mag it proved beyond doubt that the FMIC is the way to go.

cheers

Kev,

1) How much?
2) When you say fit, do you mean it'll go on a Hawkeye with no cutting of the bumper or inner wing, or less cutting than would be necessary with the Hybrid, which I've had before and was very good.

Best,

Paul

the perrin needs cutting of the bumper, and afaik will not allow for WRX fogs to be kept on a hawkeye. (STi's, never mind)

instructions for fitting can be found on www.perrinperformance.com

Hi,

they are in stock at £995.00 + vat, they are the top end of the market so not cheap, the hybrid stocked by Harvey is also a very good product at a more affordable price.

Fitting wise they both need a bit of careful bumper trimming, the Perrin does not need any inner wing cutting out and fogs can be retained, we have just done a hawkeye this weekend, all is needed is a bit of thinking outside of the box.

Cheers

Hi kev ive only just noticed these billet turbos for some reason and ive just read though all these 45 pages and they sound great.

its not a subaru im afraid but i have a 4wd toyota starlet turbo with a 1.5 conversion all forged, arp bolts, balanced bottom end 550 injectors, a lovely manifold and downpipe with a 38mm tial ewg ect. i have a brand new rebuilt vf35 i was going to run on it but the sc36 and sc38 sound very tempting what do you think they would be like instead of running the vf35?
thanks

As I'm not using the Billet 35R I currently have to its full potential I'd like to try a 30 or a 33 billet. I'm only using 1.9 bar but achieving 601bhp but if I could achieve the same power but with quicker spool it would be worth doing.

For reference heres my latest dyno run.

Hi Kev,

Many thanks. Much as I like the idea of a stealth black Perrin FMIC - certainly looks like a very high quality item. It's hard to ignore the price difference over the Hybrid, which I know from experience is very good indeed. Will keep it in mind though.

Best,

Paul

Hi the SC36 is the next step up from the VF34, thats what it was designed to beat, fill the gap in the market from 340 BHP to 380 BHP, and thats what the 36 Billet does best, anywhere from 350 bhp to 380 BHP, we have seen close on 400 with a 20% meth mix.

Spool is amazing, the things are on full tilt at well under 3000 RPM.

The 38 Billet is also stunning, slightly less spool than the 36 but better top end figures, but as I keep pointing out its not all about big numbers, nice though they are its how the turbo spools and delivers on the road or track. All our cars that entered the Birkett endurance race were fitted with smaller quicker spooling turbo's than they had used throughout the race season in Time attack, AAA saloon car challenge and other race series, result was we won our class.

In answer to another question raised earlier we have just fitted a 33 Billet to a 2.33 engine ready for testing, will up date as soon as we have a result, good or bad.

cheers
Kev

Nice one, cheers Kev. Is there a reason why not many have been tested?

Are you getting one Banny?

Hi,

due to snow we have not been able to man the phones or E mail for the first time since 1989.

We apologise if you have been trying to contact us.

Today a few of us have walked in to operate as best we can, however the collection of cars is impossible unless you can organise an air lift.

lol ^^^

Yeah, I'm at API and Pat was supposed to sort out a low speed idling/running issue with my map... But the poor sod couldn't make it down, due to the conditions.

BTW, from Leic to API via M69 and main roads in, totally fine - snow all melted/no ice.
