I don't believe we have done one for a couple of years now, and for those that don't know the format .........

We donate gifts (wrapped for either boy or girl or suitable for either) and deliver them to a home for children a day or two before christmas.

It used to be that the santa cruise was not just ESC and we would end up driving a little way away to a home etc, but I feel it would be nice to find somewhere nearer, Essex or even within London ?

This is always a great event, seeing the kiddies (those driving and those receiving gifts ) and I believe really makes a difference to them.

So who would be up for this, obviously dates need to be made, a suitable home/hospital needs to be found (anyone ?) and arrangements need to be made with them to have us all descend upon them en masse ........ And it just makes another good reason for a blast.

Baz,

We are going for a delivery date on the 20th December, will not know exactly how many boys girls etc until I have contacted a few homes (I have to go and pick up a list from Mr Cue ).

It may be that we do more than one drop ......... Will also give us a reason to have a drive as well

This is always a great event, seeing the kiddies (those driving and those receiving gifts ) and I believe really makes a difference to them.

Okay, a little update.

I have had a list given to me by Supercue via County Hall, I visited a couple of places on Sunday (a drive-by) to get an idea of places we would be visiting and it appears that most childrens homes in Essex are not a big home but many homes in peoples houses.

I have contacted 2 of the homes on the list today which cater for children between 8 and 12 years old.

One home currently has 7 children and is located in Ongar, the second has 4 children (1 nine year old girl and 3 10-11 year old boys) and is located in Billericay.

My intention was to leave from Basildons Festival Leisure Centre (Bas Vegas) and head to Ongar first, taking in some nice country lanes away from all the shopping traffic , do a drop at the home and let them come out and see the cars etc then pop over to Billericay for the same.

I have warned both places to let the neighbours know in advance as there will be quite a few cars.

Just need to nail some times down and get some pressies bought now with all this in mind.

I have asked for a list of things to look into getting, and the home in Ongar has responded with this Email :-

Dear Mr XX,

Here are a few ideas the team came up with in regards to your kind and generous offer, we have 7 children with varied ages between 8-12years

Hot wheels
Scaletrix
Prams
Dolls and dolls clothes
Books ages 8,9,10,11 and 12 year olds- stories with knowledge and fairies collection
DVD’s –under 12 years
Music cd’s
Toy cars and board games which are age appropriate

Many, many, many thanks

All the staff team at XXXX

What I was going to suggest is that we concentrate on getting presents for a particular Boy/girl from each home so we know each one has an allocated gift, if possible we could do this but then have a main gift for the home as a whole ?

Lets get this going again

Well Done Nate,

Sorry may have missed this, but how do we go about getting the pressies, you mention 11 kids, are we putting in £ the dividing up the £ between them, or buying individual pressies?

cheers Yum

Neil,

Not really sure to be honest, but my idea would have been :-

Billericay

Girl 9 years old
Boy 1 10 years old
Boy 2 10 years old
Boy 3 11 years old

then after each child, mark that you will buy a gift for that child, I am thinking of around £7-15 for each pressie.

I was also personally going to put the proceeds (read donation) of the sale of my tv towards the purchase of a Scalextric set for Ongar.

We could also do the same for Billericay ?

Kids lists :-

Ongar:

1. Girl aged 10 years
2. Girl aged 10 years
3. Girl aged 10 years
4. Girl aged 12years
5. Boy aged 12years
6. Boy aged 9 years

List for Billericay :

1. Girl 9 years old
2. Boy 1 10 years old
3. Boy 2 10 years old
4. Boy 3 11 years old

I would suggest that if you would like to get a present for one of the above on the list, please do so, but mark your name next to the chosen child so that we know that have got correct amount of gifts covered for the children of the age/gender.

If it comes to it, we can always double the gifts up, so that each child gets 2 gifts, for example, if there are 20 cars attending = 20 gifts = 2 gifts per child.

I will probably get a Scalextric set for each home, as I have found both my boy and girl love it.

Added Note:

One home said the have 7 children, but have sent a list with only 6, I have queried this and will update when I hear back
