620bhp flying machine
meeeeooow put your claws back in everyone.all i was stating is that if you open your eyes and read what banny has wrote in post 43,he says that this is mainly a road car.now if he had said he was going to use this just for say time attack or drag then fair enough but by his own words this is mainly a road car.and as for the envy bit,now my engine is being built again i could have gone down the big power route but before it blew (again) it was running 460bhp 536lb and on the road performed exellent so i dont see why i should go chasing figures that will compromise drivability.
The external wastegate is only piped up on side which is not helping spool, the nitrous has not been fitted (which was always going to be used to spool the turbo) and the intercooler pipework will also be shortened. Being run in 3rd also places less load on the turbo slowing spool and this was done due to the speeds that could be reached in 4th. If the gearbox ****s itself so be it, I have a 2.5 hawkeye sti gearbox put away for when that happens
In terms of real world lag it only needs the drop of one gear and no 400,450,500 or 550bhp is going to even get close. For traffic light grand prix's (not that im advocating you should do this) there is launch control that gives about a half a bar of boost to get you going, so a lowered car will not get the jump.
For testing purposes I may just put it against the sti 3 which runs 450bhp and show the difference between a 600+ car and everything else.

Banni, your motor's making 500bhp at 5.1k rpm, what power will a 500bhp car be making at the same? I'd say a good 100bhp less. It gives the laggy impression, as it has so much power, it's squeezed into the same size graph, so the power curve is very steep.
I'd love to have that power, and you really aren't helping my finances putting threads like this up!!

. As you can see I'm at 500bhp by 4100rpm so traffic light gran prix ahoy
Only kiddingWell done banny, was it worth all the cash

Send me a PM when you make this video if you need someone to drive the other beast
there quite big words saying that no 550bhp car will come close to you,as i think you might be very surprised.if you look at the graph of steves car and put it at the side of my old graph you will see that the way they climb is very similar, just that steves goes on to make more top end power with the bigger turbo, but mine hits peak torque a little quicker.that is the way you would expect a 2.5 engine to climb, looking at yours it seems to climb like a 2.0l engine would.
and I crossed the line over 14mph faster than you with only 0.1 sec difference
Hows it going mate

Thanks Neil, it was a ball ache getting here but all the sweeter when it came to fruition
How is your project coming along, gutted that I missed out on your carbon fibre boot lid

if my car was running then i would come along.but as you know chy built my engine so it has spent more time off the road than it has on with all the breakdowns.if my car is back up and running and i have the good to go then i will come over.
Arf I created this thread to share my results with everyone, nothing more nothing less. I would appreciate it if you could not bring up anything negative on my thread, as you have you're own thread to do this.

Banny, having driven Marks car for years with a 2.35 and your turbo setup, i can tell you, it aint laggy on the road
Just ask Alan Bell, who went out in my car, identical setup to Mark's. On paper, his car and my car had not too far apart figures, me 560, him 500, me 500lbft him 530lbft. Ask Alan which one shocked him the most for sheer grunt and B road driving!
This was in a scenario of both cars being pushed hard across a and b roads.
I would point out, that for lazy driving (ie not stirring the box), commuting, Alan's would have the edge!
Steven
ps I drove both cars, so driver ability didnt play into it

yep stevens wagon sure did kick me back in the seat , lots of grunt and power.
but my sti was a great road car (now sold)
Just had a look through the receipts, and forgot to mention Paul @ Zen Performance for sorting out the Cosworth valvetrain in double quick time. Also sorting out the issue with the collets top man!!
