Most of the mapping on the rollers and then a quick check on the road to make sure its all running right

4th flat out on my PPG is 125mph+ so would be a problem on the road

Thats an interesting statement coming from someone who very recently had their road mapped car tweaked on the rollers, lol.

why does that mean i've got a wrx?

doesn't an sti rev past 6500? an sti will rev higher and need mapping at that point.

if i had said 4500rpm in 5th would that mean i had a diesel?

Thought of Hydra but £1500 all inclusive, probably a good price. Anyway Richard does'nt map Simtek so i will stick with JGM who rep speaks for itself. Sorry for starting a riot
its very clear to me that all you people still loving the simtec must have a software problem in your heads
its very old software. this is a fact
it will obviously work to a degree, for your typical blue subaru gold wheels
but as i have said earlyer my atari still works and also my zx spectrum still works.
if you guys are that pig headed that you still want to buy one after knowing the facts about the software then go ahead.

there is one born every minuite

and as for all the purple comments, can they please stop

Mate, why join a subaru forum just to use your first few posts to insult a very good ecu(end off)

As stated before what ecu do you use,and what makes you the ecu expert?

I personally think Purple Ronnie is made up by the owner of the forum to generate more interest to the site and perhaps getting more £££s for the ads on here.

Here are a few facts:

Simtek software is not written in MS DOS.The architecture of the mapping software has been written to enable quick and easy mapping of the ECU; for this reason we have not used a "windows" format as this requires too many operator actions to move swiftly and easily around the keyboard/mapping pages. If you have any experience of mapping you would know this.

The designer of the code has never written a MS DOS programme in his life and isn't about to start...

The latest V1.12 software is approx 2 months old.

Mark Higgins - currently leading the British rally Championship - seems happy with his Atari games console.

Purple Ronnie; if you really are serious about learning the facts about the Simtek then give me a call on 07836 635001 - although I somehow doubt you will....

Steve, you havn't given me a call lately.

question is why is he purple?
Some ***** are purple aren't they?

A total of five posts, joining date August 2009. See it for what it is. Either someone planning to have a dig that has misfired on them or someone with too much time on their hands out for some sport.

Pat Herbron (Subaru Solaris) told me himself on Thursday that the Simtek was a good piece of kit.
Simon Roe who was dead anti the Simtek when it was being launched now maps them nearly every day of the week, sells them and runs one in his own car.
Pat himself maps them very regularly.
Bob Rawle maps and sells them and runs a Simtek on his own car.

If Purple Onion wants to be taken seriously then he should identify himself and his credentials but either he is having a laugh or he is a gutless, spineless F**kwit.

The Simtek is an exceptionally good ECU. Far better than the GEMS and streets ahead of what many thought was the standard to guage an ECU by, the Apexi, just two years ago. Get real Ronnie. There is also a place for the Solaris which you extol and has more capability than the Simtek which is in continual development but only a limited number of people will ever need the extra features or justify the extra expense. Actually I may well be one of them.
Value for money, functionality, ease of use, and performance for the majority of the Subaru community, tell us Purple Ronnie what compares and while you are at it, identify yourself you spineless wimp.

You forgot to mention that I too run one. Am currently lying second overall in the Pro Street Drag Series with it, and the guy in 3rd place also runs one that we mapped.
My wife will soon be having one in hers too !

Spot on Harvey, and I'd like to point out we were supplying and mapping Simteks before all of the above!

stop talking bollocks then and tell us what, and why? backup what you say with more facts of why other ECU's are better?

Basically, he can't. He's a twelve year old, shut in an airless room with only Windows for company. He has the intellect of a fruit fly. Fact.
