It is indeed, i did feel a bit stupid but at the same time happy it was ok.
Also around 3 years ago i used to valet my bosses 911 carra 4 every friday afternoon, one day i was sat in it being nosey , pressing buttons too see what they did, then i pushed a button that actually wasnt a button it was a blanking button, my finger went straight thro a hole and the button vanished down behind the dash
i could have cryed. I got my tools out and started takeing the leather dash apart on his brand new car preying he wouldnt come out too see how i was getting on. so with my lap full of the centre consol i found the button and amazingly got it all back together looking like it had never been apart. Needless to say i never played with the buttons ever again

fitted a new boost guuge in my car the other day and didnt know i had pushed the button ontop of my steering colum for the parking lights, spent ages checking all my wires thinking my boost gauge was makeing my lights stay on, then i found that switch

Dropping the last bolt out off a subframe for a pug 207 gt turbo. (removeing box engine rack etc in a oner)
Laid under car next to passanger wheel. One hand under head off ratchet the other on handle undoing bolt. bolt came out, engine box etc dropped problem being my hand was still under ratchet pinned me too ground by 2 fingers and i couldnt move i was screaming like ned flanders!! but then complete running gear engine and sub frame wieght does that too you.
2 mates came running in one tried lifting it off but couldnt as shell was in way. then grabbed drivers front wheel to try that way, that just made whole thing pivot off my fingers lol, (by this time i was piicturing my life - 2 fingers lol still laid out pinned to ground)
was there for a good 5 mins (felt like 5 hour) before they lifted it off. dragged my hand out, then none off us dare take my latex glove off incase my fingers staid in it lol,
End off story 2 broke fingers that stayed pure white for 2 week and had Snap on printed in them, funny now wasnt at time.

Not me but my Dad.
He was building an AC Cobra Kit Car.
The car was just back from the body shop that day after a £3K paint job.
He excitedly got to work putting varoius bits of trim etc on the car. Then while using a rather large (and blunt) flat nosed screw driver to help the rubber seals in around the Windscreen wipers he slips off the small piece of rubber and carves an 8" long crater through the paint and fibre glass. First time I ever saw my father cry!!!
Then me, returning from a trip in my old fiesta and deciding to top up the oil - Got distracted and poured oil over the nicely warm manifold - cue flames and LOTS of white smoke. Luckily Dad came running out and put the flames out and no harm was done to me, him or the car

MY m8 brought his 106 GTI to my house so we could fit the sound system from his old car to it. He hadn't owned the car long, think it was only a week or so.
He took the old stereo unit out & connected the new one up, then pushed it in place & let go. He hadn't put the cage in so the stereo fell into the dash board.
After getting that out it was time to fit the sub. We had already connected it up to the back of the head unit & tidied the cables away.
All that was left was to feed the power cable through to the battery. After seeing another m8 who had a bit of an idea what he was doing, completing the same job on another car we decided the easiest way would be through the bonnet pull rubber grommet.
I went to find something to poke a hole through it, but when i came back out my m8 had a cordless drill in his hand & said its ok iv done it.
He finished off connecting it to the battery & I started tidying the tools away. When I took the drill bit out of the drill I noticed it was wet.
At this point I also detected the smell of petrol. Told me m8 and it was a case of oh bollocks. I went to get my dad to come out and have a look, he had a look around but couldn't find a leak so he told my friend to start it. Petrol started pissing all over the place. He had drilled through the fuel pipe.
Had to call the AA out, the bloke found the leak almost straight away. Problem was it wasn't in a position where he could reach it to put a new section in or seal the leak.
Car had to be towed back to my m8s house then onto a garage the next day. Half the engine & bodywork had to be stripped to gain access so the pipe could be replaced.
Cost me m8 a fair bit & he was without the car for a week.
Never tried anything else since.

Back in my youth my first car ( a mini with a 1400 metro engine) i decided it could be a good idear to connect the battery terminals up the wrong way!! Melted all the wiring on my ultinator and rear lights. My dad loved me

did a stupid thing put alloy wheells on wifes fiesta only used the standard nuts so guess what happend both front wheells rolled off as she turned corner causing considerable damage too front end numpty
